The natural question that springs to mind following any horrific event is — why? For Christians, God promises to work out every vicissitude of life for good. To somehow turn tragedy into triumph, and fashion something beautiful out of the ugliness of human depravity. So, what good can come out of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, perpetrated by a deeply depraved individual, someone whose heart was filled with the choking slurry of transgenderism?
And why did Kirk, an obviously devoted husband who relished an idyllic union with the love of his life, paragon of fatherly affection, and faithful servant of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ suffer such a public and cruel murder?
Certainly, Charlie would be thrilled that millions of people are asking themselves why evil exists and seems to surge like a black tidal wave, drowning reason in its undertow of hate. Because acknowledging the reality of objective evil is, in itself, a recognition of a transcendent good.
Already, God is weaving goodness and beauty from the tangle of Satan’s poisonous strands. Kirk’s message is reaching tens of thousands more with a rapidity that has left the fatal bullet far behind. Just a few days ago, three million people gathered and marched peacefully through London, giving witness to the power of true martyrdom.
Kirk’s invitation to everyone who stood on the opposite side of his signature folding table was the same invitation God extends to every seeking soul, “Come now, and let us reason together, >saith the LORD; though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow…” (Isaiah 1:18)
Charlie offered a microphone to his opponents, to people he desperately wanted to help understand that they were really opposing themselves, sacrificing their own humanity to a pitiless and ravenous god. He extended the invitation of the rational to people who were possessed by the irrational.
Kirk was exceptional, singular — like his mentor Rush Limbaugh, or more aptly like his Lord, Jesus Christ. A spiritual warrior who clearly understood the real battle is “not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

For me, this is one of Kirk’s most profound statements, “Once people start drinking from the stream of liberty, they’re going to want to know its source.” And, this is precisely what the left cannot abide. If people wake up to the truth that God is the only source of liberty, statism is dead. The Bible says, “and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” (2 Corinthians 3:18) Our founders knew this. In fact, every state at the time of the ratification of the U.S. Constitution required a statement of faith to hold public office. The notion of inalienable rights is exclusively a product of Christian political theory.
The left, what is now primarily the social Marxist movement, can only offer the sulfuric hellscape of utopianism — the demonic politics of Marx, Stalin, Mao, Ho Chi Minh, and their totalitarian successors. They offer the great lie, that man is perfectible, and can create his own Eden, apart from God — by means of a deified state.
The Marxism of the Stalinists, having lost its frontal assault on the wildly successful West, has abandoned the notion of the historical dialectic of economic class conflict, borrowed from Hegel. It’s tough trying to convince an overwhelmingly prosperous “working class” to overthrow the democratic republic which has enabled them to lavish themselves and their children with a largesse unimaginable to any generation before in history.
The Marxism of our day has become social. It’s insidious and seeks to undermine the fundamental building blocks of our republic — the family. To sow division anywhere unity exists by incessantly inflaming social contradictions in terms of oppressed vs. oppressor. The aim of the social Marxist is to corrupt culture, education, religion, government, and the press — thereby bringing about the rot which will cause the grand edifice of liberty to collapse of its own accord. As Kirk knew all too well, our public schools and university system have been almost completely co-opted, and our culture is, therefore, increasingly secular, profane, and shot through with the rot of addiction — thanks in no small part to Chinese fentanyl.
As a result, our children and young adults are indoctrinated with a nihilism that denies the possibility of eternal consequence.
The cutting edge of today’s rabid, Marxist action arms are leading and promoting transgenderism. They’re victimizing and co-opting the vulnerable through 764 online groups, utilizing popular gaming platforms like Roblox. And one of the newest threat vectors is “underground fight clubs” where disaffected young people are being indoctrinated and socialized into assassination culture. Broadly, social media is a sewer of pathology, a happy hunting ground for identity radicals.
Though BLM and ANTIFA are threats, they pale in comparison to the transgender radicals.
Charlie Kirk was assassinated because he was a direct threat to the ascendancy of the left, and because he identified assassination culture as a natural outgrowth of the left’s protest culture — a culture funded by foreign and domestic adversaries. Though his murderer may not have been directed, he was certainly inspired, encouraged, and indoctrinated by transgender ideology, Democrat politicians, and social Marxist groups agitating for violence.
Many people are asking themselves how they can best honor Kirk. Without a doubt, I’d imagine he’d say that seeking to be reconciled to God through the sacrificial death of Christ, by appropriating the free gift of salvation by faith alone, in Christ alone — by humbling oneself and calling out to the Redeemer in repentance and faith (Romans 10:13) — would honor him in the most profound way. Next to that, I’d imagine he’d be thrilled to know you’ve sought out a Bible-believing church. And, of course, you can honor him by supporting Turning Point USA .
Though I never had the privilege of meeting Charlie Kirk in this life, I know I’ll see him in the next.
