Has a major American political party ever had its electoral compass more badly malfunctioning than today’s Democrats, with its needle consistently pointing south, sending its members in precisely the wrong direction, both literally and figuratively?
Let's just consider a few of countless representative examples.
Senator Chris Van Hollen is actually traveling to El Salvador to demand the return to the United States of a Salvadoran MS-13 gang member deported by the Trump administration. As they say, you cannot make this stuff up.
Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national who illegally entered the United States in 2011, was arrested in March 2019 and adjudged by two separate US immigration courts to be an MS-13 gang member. He was deported back to El Salvador by the Trump administration in March of this year.
MS-13 has been designated a domestic terrorist organization by an Executive Order signed by President Trump on the first day of his administration. As such, its members are subject to arrest and deportation, notwithstanding any purported "administrative error" in Mr. Abrego's detention and deportation proceedings. By every conceivable legal and commonsensical metric, he should not be roaming the streets of America. He should be exactly where he is, back in his home country of El Salvador dealing with its justice system.
But, but, but, cry the Democrats, he's a father! Yeah, so? Does his ability to inseminate a woman somehow expiate his law-breaking and gang membership in America?
Democrats across the land, from Van Hollen, to "comedian" Stephen Colbert, to CNN "reporter" Kaitlan Collins decry the horrors of the Trump administration deporting an illegal alien MS-13 gang member back to his home country. That old political compass is working like a charm.

Then let's take the whole failed-male-athletes-pretending-to-be-women thing. If there ever were a hill a politician should not die on, it's this one. Eighty percent of Americans think if you've got XY chromosomes in every cell of your body, then you shouldn't be playing in a girl's athletic competition. Seems pretty straightforward, doesn't it?
Oh, no, not if you've got a D after your name. The D in this case doesn't stand for "dumb," though it might as well. The Democrats, who once managed to portray themselves, however falsely, as the "party of women's rights," have managed to destroy any regard for real women's rights.
When girls and young women are rightly horrified at the thought of undressing in a locker room in front of, let alone competing against, a dude claiming to feel like a woman that day, the distraught girl is told that the problem is with her and she should find someplace else to change. And let's not even consider the very real and serious injuries that girls forced to compete against male-make-believe-female athletes have suffered.
What normal American supports this? Why, your average Democrat politician, of course!
Finally, we have Democrats hating their once-beloved eco-savior Elon Musk and his electric cars. Fire-bombing Teslas is all the rage now among members of the Jackass Party. I guess the smoke produced by an immolated Tesla and its dealership doesn't cause global warming?
The "wizard" of Democratic politics, James Carville, would be expected to see how off the reservation his party is and try to correct their heading.
But no. The political "genius" who got Bill Clinton elected in 1992 with his catchy "It's the economy, stupid" line, had enough intuition to capture the American zeitgeist of that era, in which much of America felt left behind by the economic conditions of the day.
One would think that Carville would recognize that the vast majority of the American citizenry today would not support his party fighting to keep MS-13 gang members inside the United States, letting big strapping guys demolish women in their sports, or destroy arguably eco-friendly automobiles in the name of "fighting fascism".
But no. Carville endorses these Democratic policies and tactics, such as they are. The man is past his expiration date. And it speaks to the dire state of his party that they are casting back to their memories of their glory days in the early 1990s and a “Ragin’ Cajun” that they still imagine has the smarts to vault their party back to the top.
And finally, as demonstrable evidence that the “progressive” Democrats have completely broken with political reality, we have this bit of breaking news. The Democratic National Committee’s newly appointed spoiled brat, entitled, gun-grabbing lunatic Vice Chair, David Hogg, whose sole lifelong claim to fame was surviving a mass shooting incident, is vowing to spend Democrats’ money to take down seasoned Democratic Party leaders. The 25-year-old Boy Wonder (choke!) plans to spend $20 million to primary safe Democrats in senior positions. (Hogg apparently failed to sign the DNC’s “neutrality pledge”, foreswearing primarying incumbents.) What a great plan!
The Democrats need a new compass. But as far as I'm concerned, they shouldn't course-correct. Just follow that heading m'boys!
