The University of Oxford, one of the most revered and historic institutions of higher learning in the world, has requested that Oxford city council officials add the names of five soldiers who fought against Great Britain in the First World War to a memorial honoring Britain’s war dead. You cannot make this up.
The five individuals – Oxford alumni all – include three individuals born on German territory, one born on Hungarian soil, and another born in Poland. They all fought against the Allied armies in World War I, but will nonetheless be "honored" alongside Britain’s war dead. Talk about losing the plot.
My maternal grandfather, of Hungarian birth, fought in the Austro-Hungarian army as a forward artillery observer in the First World War. He survived the war, but had he not, I would never expect his name to be added to a monument honoring the casualties of Britain in the Great War.
This bizarre news comes on the heels of real "progressive" depredations on European "values" – those old-fashioned things like freedom of speech, democratically elected officials and so on. In a case of political persecution via the judiciary, remarkably similar to what Donald Trump suffered at the hands of numerous U.S. courts, a French court sentenced the most popular French politician and likely future French President, Marine Le Pen, to four years in prison for alleged improper use of European Union funds. The case revolved around the conservative populist Le Pen and other members of her National Rally party using funds from the EU to allegedly improperly reimburse aides for political work. Le Pen and her colleagues denied all along that they did anything improper. Le Pen was sentenced to four years, with two years likely to be suspended and the other two years requiring an ankle bracelet and no incarceration.

The real point of the ruling though was to prevent Le Pen from appearing on the French presidential ballot in 2027, since she is barred from running for political office for five years, as a result of her conviction. The French leftists have adopted the political lawfare strategy used unsuccessfully against Donald Trump in the United States to stop their political opponents. Le Pen will appeal the ruling, but the French appellate process is glacial.
And the French are not alone. Leftists have used the same legal persecution tactics against conservative, populist (and popular) political leaders now in numerous countries. Romania’s populist presidential frontrunner, Calin Georgescu, was barred from the presidential contest despite having received the most votes in their recent election, after prosecutors opened a criminal case against him two weeks prior to the election. His votes, and the election results, were annulled.
The charges leveled against Georgescu are truly Orwellian, and include "communication of false information," involvement with a fascist organization [apparently a reference to supposed support of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which Georgescu denies], and "incitement to actions against the constitutional order." Boy, you could drive a truck through those legal maws. It almost sounds like
misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation." Who can forget those familiar tunes?
Georgescu told Fox News, "They are trying to destroy democracy, They could not accept to lose the power and access to the money."
The "they" in this case are the globalists, who are coordinating the attacks on Trump, Le Pen and populists everywhere. Because the last thing the Leftists/Democrats/Socialists/Communists/Globalists want is the actual people having a voice in their governance. Mon Dieu!
But wait. There’s more! We have populist Euroskeptic Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini who – perish the thought! – wants Italy to crack down on illegal immigration and is highly critical of the EU and the euro. He’s a very popular conservative. The charges brought against him late last year were much more interesting than humdrum trumped up financial management issues. No, they actually accused Salvini of criminal kidnapping because he had the audacity, in his official capacity, to bar a boat full of illegal aliens from docking in Italy. Mio Dio!
The Italian case went down in flames when Salvini was acquitted in December.
See, this is how the Left now operates globally. Stick political activists in judicial robes and have them pronounce judgment on their sane, populist and popular conservative opponents. The same playbook is being employed in Brazil against popular conservative former President Jair Bolsonaro who, like President Trump, barely survived an assassination attempt, when a deranged leftist stabbed him in 2018 at a political rally. In his case, Bolsonaro was charged this past February with alleged participation in a "coup," because he justifiably alleged that there was widespread electoral fraud in the 2022 election, which he lost. Sound familiar?
Then there is the case of Pakistan’s hugely popular, Oxford-educated famed cricketeer and populist, former President Imran Khan. He was accused and arrested in May 2023 (a year after leaving the presidency) for, among other things, "sedition." Whenever you see "sedition" thrown into a charge sheet (looking at you, J6ers), your BS meter should be ringing alarm bells.
So this is a global phenomenon undoubtedly coordinated by a globalist star chamber. Resistance to a supranational tyranny will not be tolerated! Elon Musk and Donald Trump see this clear as day and are desperately trying to thwart the collapse of the United States into this Communism 2.0 hellhole.
Back to Europe. JD Vance’s speech at the Munich Security Conference on February 14 was pitch-perfect, and should be read, or better yet, watched, by everyone. As Vance so aptly told his dumbstruck European audience: "What I worry about is the threat from within—the retreat of Europe from some of its most fundamental values, values that are shared with the United States of America."
Citing such things as the annulment of the Romanian election of Calin Georgescu, Britain prosecuting a military veteran for praying outside an abortion clinic, and the censorship by European government of social media platforms, Vance rightly said, "But what has seemed a little bit less clear to me, and certainly, I think, to many of the citizens of Europe, is what exactly it is that you’re defending yourselves for. What is the positive vision that animates this shared security compact that we all believe is so important?"
Indeed, if Britain places its enemies on the same war memorial honoring its own war dead, what are they defending themselves for?
