America is not a democracy, never has been, and was never intended to be by our Founders. It was, and is, a “republic,” a representative form of government. True democracies, where all citizens take direct action in the decisions of government, are very rare in history and can only be accomplished by small city-states, at best.
But we call America a “democracy,” and permit me that term. The United States has extended, over time, the franchise, and thus, multiplied the number of people who can vote—and who they can vote for. In the beginning, only male property owners could vote (to prevent non-property owners from voting property away from those who had it). “Jacksonian Democracy” extended the vote to, mostly, all white males. The Civil War aftermath gave votes to some black people, but that wasn’t permanent. It was in the 1910s and after that voting rights expanded to gargantuan proportions.
The 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote, effectively doubling the “democracy” in America (although 20 states had already granted women such right). The 17th Amendment (1913) allowed for the direct election of U.S. senators. “Democracy” enhanced. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 opened voting to most blacks, and the 26th Amendment (1971) lowered the voting age to 18. Democrats today, of course, let illegals, dogs, and dead people vote whenever possible. So, while technically America is still a Republic, we have certainly increased the “democracy” in the nation. Now, read the Hans-Hermann Hoppe quote at the beginning of this article again.
A virtuous democracy may be the best form of government. The people will be able to choose and control their leaders. But when democracy becomes decadent, when it is filled with Bad Bunnies, Democrats, and Hollywood degenerates, democracy becomes the worst form of government because the people will always select leaders in their own image. And giving power to decadent degenerates, regardless of the form of government, will always lead to disaster: give Decadence the vote, and Decadence will surely be elected. What makes democracy so frightening is that mob rule is always most to be feared. That is, where pleasure and hedonism rather than duty, responsibility, virtue, and service to God and man become the do-all of life, as the latter should be.
America has abandoned virtue as the cardinal foundation of its morality, and allowed the decadent majority to vote. What our Founders knew is that such will always happen in a democracy. Start with the doubling of the vote in 1920. Women are wonderful creatures, of course, and we cannot live without them. But, contrary to feminism’s mythology, they are much different than men, not as physically strong as a rule, and tend to be more tender and emotional than men, given the primary role God has assigned them on this earth (more on that momentarily). The almost universal Hollywood portrayal of the 100-pound woman karate chopping with one blow a 250-pound man into unconsciousness is ridiculous. It has created an image of the fairer, weaker sex that is wholly unrealistic and terribly damaging.
Sadly, if taught incorrectly by feminism, women can be as depraved as men. As we've increased democracy in America, we've seen barbarism increase and civilization decline. We also didn't help matters when we lowered the voting age to maleducated, easy to brainwash, inexperienced 18-year-olds (half of whom are female) who know nothing about how to govern a people, or, for that matter, much about life in general. Most 18-year-olds only seem to know what they have between their legs, and they think from that source. And many of them don't even understand what the anatomy between their legs means. Certainly, half the country—Democrats—doesn’t. If you let that govern, your country is going to have serious virtue problems, to say the least.
It’s been deliberate, of course, by the Left. The nuclear family is one of their greatest enemies, and they have done yeoman, and significantly successful, work in destroying it. God made women more emotional than men so they could be mothers, which is the most important job on the face of this earth—to train and raise, educate and civilize the next generation, their children. Mothers are a priceless treasure of the earth. Well, good mothers are. Female mothers. The only kind God and His people recognize.
Fathers obviously also have a critical role to play in the education and training of children, but it is tender, wonderful motherhood which is largely given this all-important assignment by God. Tragically, women in America, and the West, because of godless, left-wing feminism, have largely abandoned that responsibility in the modern world, and look at the democratic results.
We murder unborn children. We no longer know what a “man” or a “woman” are. We have effeminized society so that, in most movies, the women are “men” and the “men” are sissies. In effeminized societies, homosexuality expands as men are emasculated, and thus lose the masculinity that make them the strong MEN God intends them to be. Without the family, decadence reigns in both sexes.
Democracy in the last 100 years. Feminism. I certainly don’t blame women exclusively, not at all; men let it happen because too many of them think with their penises rather than their brains. But it isn’t surprising that Pelosi, Hillary, AOC, Maxine Waters, Kamala Harris and other such women now plague, and are about to destroy, our country. And gutless, effeminized men are allowing it to occur, for their own hedonistic, not-virtuous pleasure.
Sadly, it’s democracy. Our Founders warned us, but as always, we haven’t listened.
