America faces numerous problems today—all countries do, and America has had its share throughout its history. I often ponder what America's “greatest” problem is, and I suspect we could have a lively debate on that question and never reach unanimity. I won’t try to say what the most supreme problem is, but I do know that I would put “ignorance,” especially historical ignorance, in the top five. Maybe the top three. Maybe number one.
The history of Leftism is manifest—it is full of death, misery, oppression, poverty, torture, privation, failure. I’ve written about it repeatedly in articles, and there is no excuse for anybody being unaware of it. There is no justification for ignorance. If we want to know what the Democratic Party will do if it ever gains the power it craves in America, all we have to do is look at the past 100 years in the Soviet Union, China, Cuba, North Korea, Cambodia, and every other Leftist hellhole that savaged untold millions—billions—of people. And the last few decades in America. Abortion and child mutilation, anyone?
And yet half of America, at least, continues to vote for the Leftist Democratic Party, as if, somehow, it’s different from other Leftists around the world. The only difference is that the Democrats have never had the total power they long for. Some Americans AREN’T ignorant.
The quote that serves as the title of this article was made by Nikita Khrushchev while addressing Western ambassadors at a reception at the Polish embassy in Moscow on November 18, 1956. “Burying the West” has been the goal of Leftism—communism, Marxism in its modern form—ever since modern Leftists accepted Karl Marx as the world’s savior. The Left still wants to do it; the Left, the Democratic Party, in America, is attempting to destroy traditional America and establish a whole new country on Marxist, globalist principles. “We will bury you” is still their goal, and Marx and his followers made it plain how they intended to do it. They want to obliterate America’s history, God, and economics, and take over the education system—the latter point producing the ignorance that is so rife and destructive of America. Let me run through this.
1. Destroy America’s history. Marx put it plainly: “Keep people from their history and they are easily controlled.” “Take away a nation’s heritage and they are more easily persuaded.” In other words, keep them ignorant of their own history; that’s the best way to destroy them. “If you can cut the people off from their history, then they can be easily persuaded.” The Left in America, of course, has vilified just about every aspect of America’s history, turning our Founding Fathers into monsters. The foundations must be destroyed before something new can be built. And that is exactly what the Marxist Left is trying to do in America. And they have had great success in accomplishing it.
2. Destroy religion. God is the supreme enemy of the Left, for anyone who believes in something higher than the state is a threat to totalitarian government. Marx and Lenin are both clear about their views on religion. Marx: “My object is to dethrone God and destroy capitalism.” “Communism begins where atheism begins.” “The first requisite for the happiness of the people is the abolition of religion.” Lenin: “Our program necessarily includes the propaganda of atheism.” “Atheism is a natural and inseparable part of Marxism, of the theory and practice of scientific Socialism.” “There can be nothing more abominable than religion.” These quotes could be multiplied endlessly, but space doesn’t permit. Destroying America’s Judeo-Christian heritage is a priority of the Left, and is obvious in today’s Democratic Party. Transgender Day comes before Easter, remember.
3. Economics. Note again the Marx quote: “My object is to dethrone God and destroy capitalism.” God and capitalism have to go. This includes things like heavy taxation and inflation. Lenin: "The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation.” Marx: “A heavy or progressive or graduated income tax is necessary for the proper development of Communism.” Socialism is the goal, and interestingly, democracy will lead to it: “Democracy is the road to socialism,” Marx said. That needs analysis that is beyond my purposes here. However, for Marx, political equality of the masses also meant economic equality.
4. Education. Keep the people ignorant of their history—we’ve already seen that. But Marx and Lenin were more specific than just that. Marx: “The education of all children, from the moment that they can get along without a mother’s care, shall be in state institutions.” Let the government educate children. And when the Left gets control of education, we get…what we see in America today. Lenin wrote: “Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.” I wonder what our kindergartens are teaching besides how children can play with themselves.
Our Founding Fathers understood the importance of education. Just one quote here, for space’s sake: “Educate and inform the whole mass of the people. They are the only sure reliance for the perseverance of our liberty” (Thomas Jefferson). That sounds an awful lot like ignorance will produce Leftist slavery. The Left surely knows that.
The title of this article is a quote from Nikita Khrushchev. Let me end this with another quote from him in 1959: “Your children and grandchildren will live under communism. You Americans are so gullible. No, you won’t accept Communism outright, but we’ll keep feeding you small doses of Socialism until you finally wake up and find that you already have Communism. We won’t have to fight you. We'll weaken your economy, until you fall like overripe fruit into our hands.” Drip, drip, drip…that’s the Left in America, and it has been working. Ignorance is truly burying us.
