It’s not that hard to connect the dots, because it’s all right there.
Democrats caterwaul and oppose the deportation of every single illegal alien—even lionizing the worst of the worst offenders during the course of it—at the exact same time they are trying to expand voting rights for non-citizens. The inescapable conclusion is simple: they want to keep all the illegal aliens inside the country, and accept more if possible, so they can eventually turn them into Democratic Party voters.
It’s not about compassion. It certainly isn’t about election security. It’s about political power, plain and simple.
It’s why Wyoming has suddenly become the new front in the war over whether American elections are only for American citizens.
Wyoming has a proud history on the righteous expansion of the voting franchise, having been the first U.S. state or territory to grant women the right to vote in 1869. And so, it should be taken seriously when the legislature passes a common-sense law requiring people to prove their citizenship before registering to vote — a measure that any reasonable person would expect to see in a self-governing republic.
After all, voting is a right that should be solely reserved for citizens, not foreign nationals.
But because Wyoming, under Secretary of State Chuck Gray, has instituted this most basic protection of its elections, Democrat legal mercenary Marc Elias, who is best known for pushing the discredited Trump-Russia hoax and for engineering a barrage of lawsuits that weakened election security during the 2020 election, has now set his sights on Wyoming.
Why? Because this law stands in the way of the Democrats’ real goal: erasing the distinction between citizen and non-citizen at the ballot box.
Along with left wing groups, Elias is suing Wyoming claiming the state’s requirement that voters be American citizens disenfranchises people who are somehow unable to prove it. What hogwash. The list of acceptable identification includes a U.S. passport, a birth certificate, and naturalization papers, among other documents.

First, before we get started exposing what they’re doing, let’s be clear that the suit should be tossed for lack of standing and lack of ripeness, especially since no one can yet claim to have been harmed by Wyoming’s law because there hasn’t been an election held under it.
Nevertheless, the suit makes the all-too-common racist and sexist assumptions for which the left is so well known, including the claim that blacks or Latinos will be too poor or unintelligent to be able to prove who they are. As insulting a claim as that is, equally as bad is their assertion that women who change their names in marriage will be dumbfounded about voting.
When the left is offering to protect people from themselves, always ask the key question: who really benefits?
The answer is found in what Elias is truly up to: laying the groundwork for a future in which every illegal alien who sets foot on American soil is a potential Democratic voter. Democrats figure that if they fight to keep illegal aliens from being deported, they’ll be rewarded with loyalty at the ballot box if the illegals become eligible to vote.
Some may be tempted to dismiss this claim as paranoia, but look at the facts.
Multiple jurisdictions in the United States that are governed by leftists, including Washington, D.C., and cities and towns in California, Maryland, and Vermont, already allow non-citizens to vote in local elections. In 2021, the New York City Council attempted to give voting rights to more than 800,000 non-citizens, a move that was thankfully stopped by the courts.
This is the beginning of the Democrat plan, and they are using the laws in these places to normalize the idea that citizenship doesn’t matter when it comes to voting. If they continue to succeed and spread at the local or state level, it’s only a matter of time before they try to push it nationwide — in Congressional or even presidential elections.
Because, why would they stop at local elections? Obviously, they wouldn’t.
That’s why Democrats resist every effort to secure our elections. It’s not just about fighting voter ID laws or opposing signature verification. It’s about keeping the system as porous as the border was until President Trump secured it again.
Although it may have been former President Joe Biden who intentionally dismantled the security at our physical border, we should all recognize that it is the execrable Marc Elias who is the man behind the scenes doing the same to our election system. He led the campaign to loosen voting rules in dozens of states ahead of the 2020 election, suing to eliminate safeguards designed to prevent fraud. He’s also the man who funneled money from the Clinton campaign into the infamous Steele dossier, which sparked the baseless Russia collusion narrative.
Now, he’s trying to undermine Wyoming’s right to protect the sanctity of the vote and reserve it for actual citizens. It’s simple: Democrats would rather win elections—by any means necessary—rather than secure them.
Rep. Harriet Hageman, a Republican, is the lone member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Wyoming.
