Imagine if Jews were banned from visiting Chicago. Does it sound far-fetched? Unfortunately, it isn't. Last week, Jews were banned from visiting the U.K.'s second-largest city, Birmingham. This is not a joke. Birmingham is 30 percent Muslim. An attempt is being made to create a separate Muslim state in the U.K., and Jews are merely the first victims of the religion of intolerance. The inept U.K. government doesn't seem to know what to do about it. It illustrates what happens when Muslims reach large numbers in Western countries.
Peter Hammond, in "Slavery, Terrorism, and Islam," describes what has happened where Muslim immigration has grown as a percentage of the total population. "When the population hits the 10% mark, Muslims become increasingly lawless and violent. At 20%, there is an increase in rioting and murder, jihad militias, and destruction of non-Muslim places of worship." And it gets much worse from there.
The Muslim problem facing the U.K. also exists in France, Belgium, Holland, Sweden, and Germany. Is it too late to stop it from happening in the U.S.? Muslim clerics in the U.S. regularly preach their intent to take over and establish Sharia Law. We should take them at their word. It seems to be happening in Dearborn, Michigan, and other American cities with large Muslim populations. Muslim Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud recently responded to criticism from Christian pastor Ted Barham, a resident, by telling Barham that he wasn't welcome in the city and that he'd throw a parade the day Barham left.
When ex-Muslim Nonie Darwish visited mosques in the U.S., she witnessed firsthand how the imams are urging their Muslim congregants not to assimilate. The Center for Religious Freedom found that Islamic supremacism, together with hatred of Jews and Christians, is taught extensively in American mosques. The Mapping Sharia project found that three out of four American mosques preach hate and incitement to violence. "They don't want to live in Muslim countries," said author Ann Coulter, "and yet they want to change the non-Muslim countries they move to into Muslim countries."

There are reportedly a million Muslims living in New York City. What will happen in New York when Zohran Mamdani is elected mayor? "The same Islamic radicalization we've seen in places like London is now on the menu for the Big Apple," said Bonchie at RedState, "and Mamdani is no longer afraid to show that's his goal. What's about to happen in New York City is the canary in the coal mine. None of this stops there, and Islam does not hide the ball about what its goal is. As it has always been throughout its history, it is to conquer and take control. That's how you get Mamdani proudly offering support to an imam who was an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and who has called for the establishment of an Islamic state in America."
Who is Mamdani, and what does he believe? "We came here to remake this state in the image of our people," he said. According to Katie Pavlich at Townhall, "Mamdani is on the record promoting and calling for global Intifada—murder. He sympathizes with Hamas and other Islamic terrorist organizations. He adores the architects of 9/11 and applauds those who celebrated the slaughter of thousands."
You'd think that would knock him out of New York's mayoralty race. No such luck. "The guardrails have been taken down and chucked into the sea," said Bonchie, "because too many Americans have convinced themselves it's 'bigotry' to speak out against those things."
And there lies the problem for us. Americans take pride in being tolerant, especially when it comes to religion. "If you convince enough people that their rejection of Islamic ideals is bigotry," says Bonchie, "they'll eventually rush to the polls to vote themselves into oblivion. That's what we've seen happen in Europe, and sadly, most of those countries have likely reached a point of no return."
The disease has crossed the ocean. An old friend of mine was upset when I criticized Islam. It seems that my friend's wife was successfully treated by a Muslim-American surgeon, and so he was willing to overlook the facts about Islam. Because of his image as a tolerant, humane, freedom-loving American, my friend had no compunction about giving a free pass to an ideology that promotes murder, intolerance, misogyny, and totalitarianism. This is the liberal hypocrisy that is enabling a dangerous, medieval cult to whittle away at Western civilization.
When liberals insist that we should be tolerant of Muslims, their tolerance is a one-way street. "Should asylum be extended to the adherents of religions that do not recognize the free exercise rights of other religions?" asks Professor Edward J. Erler. The rational answer is NO. Yet the Left will do back flips in support of the Stone Age people who have committed more than 26,000 acts of terrorism since 9/11. "They are concerned about the rights of thugs," said British political commentator Pat Condell, "but not about the rights of citizens, especially women."
The Left hopes you are one of the bleeding-heart liberals who want to open the doors to anyone from anywhere as long as they have a desire to emigrate to America. Progressive liberals believe they occupy the moral high ground. It never occurs to them that their Pollyanna viewpoint can easily lead to the destruction of everything we revere. Muslim countries seem to understand this better than we do. As noted by Family Security Matters, several Muslim countries recognize the link between Islam and terrorism and therefore refuse to accept Muslim refugees. If they did, the West would not be facing this existential threat.
"A U.S. foreign policy that recommends absorbing unvetted Muslim refugees has been advocated as compassion," said Nonie Darwish, "but in fact it is gross negligence and reckless endangerment to US citizens, Western freedoms and democracy." It was summed up by an anonymous Internet warning: "It takes a special kind of lunatic to think that importing welfare recipients who want to kill us is a good idea."
Whether we acknowledge it or not, Islam is fighting a war against our civilization. "Make no mistake," said author Pamela Geller, "we are at war. Our mortal enemy has made no secret of its goal and stated aim: eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within and sabotaging its miserable house. Muslims are working in the U.S. now," Geller says, "to make sure that Islam dominates by destroying our Constitutional freedoms. How do I know that? Because they've told us."
One last thought—what does freedom of religion mean? Can any ideology qualify for benefits under this umbrella, or does it have limits? You bet it does. "We have to stop pretending that Islam is a religion," said Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders. "The constitutional freedoms of religion do not apply to an ideology. Islam is a totalitarian ideology that aims to conquer the West. A free society should not grant freedom to those who want to destroy it."
Wilders has struck at the core of the controversy. Is Islam a religion or an ideology? My view is that Islam is a totalitarian ideology cloaked in the disguise of a religion, which allows it to get away with murder—literally. When the power centers of the Islamic world cite the Quran to advocate and, in fact, demand the brutal murder of anyone who denies the core beliefs of Islam, then we are no longer dealing with a religion. What we have is a murder cult, and there is nothing in the Bill of Rights that supports this.
"Let's not be politically correct about it," said ex-Muslim Ayaan Hirsi Ali. "Violence is inherent in Islam. It's a destructive, nihilistic cult of death. It legitimates murder."
We must be prepared to act against those who would destroy America and American values. We have sedition laws that make it a crime to advocate the violent overthrow of the U.S. government. Is anyone paying attention? When intolerance and acts of violence are demanded by radical imams in Brooklyn, Chicago, and Sacramento, it is time to remove the blinders and recognize that freedom of religion does not apply.
The alternative is staring us in the face. Just look at what has happened to Europe.
