Law enforcement can be an ugly business.  Just ask any police officer who has ever pinned on a badge, strapped a sidearm onto his hip, and kissed his loved ones’ goodbye as he walked out the door, never knowing if he would see them again.  Every day cops on the streets across America have to deal with often very desperate individuals. People who have committed crimes and simply don’t want to go to jail.  People who won’t hesitate to harm or kill a police officer who is just trying to do his job trying to arrest them for their wrongdoing.

Cops are trained to use a variety of tactics, using both verbal and physical tactics to try to limit the amount of resistance they encounter when trying to affect an arrest of one of those desperate individuals. Unfortunately, the verbal tactics don’t always work, requiring an escalation in force by the police officer.

Oftentimes, as has happened at least since the arrest of Rodney King and the police misconduct in that event that was captured on video, along with the technology advances with cell phones so that now everyone has a video camera in their pocket, the police are under almost constant scrutiny.

Unfortunately, much of the video evidence used against the police nowadays, when a wanna-be Cecil B. DeMille focuses their cellphone camera on the police, only captures a very small part of what is often a very violent encounter lasting many minutes. Not the mere seconds captured on video when a police officer is required to use physical force to subdue a violent offender resisting arrest.  That same video is then played over and over and over regularly on the evening news to make the police look bad.

Not to mention also used by corrupt politicians and activists to pursue a political agenda, which often turns career criminals into a veritable Saint. As was done in recent years with George Floyd.

Which is why police departments around the country have begun to issue ‘body cams’ to their officers so that an entire encounter can be captured on video, as a form of protection for the officers and their departments against false allegations.

Starting tomorrow President Trump’s ‘Border Czar’ Tom Homan has promised sweeping arrests of illegal aliens all across America. Focusing energies on the desperate and violent individuals who were welcomed into the United States over the last four years by the administration of Joe Biden. (Of course it’s questionable whether Joe Biden even knew what was going on, since it’s come to light that he apparently was signing executive orders that he didn’t even know what they were about, or have any memory of doing so.)

But what is guaranteed in the coming days after Tom Homan commences his operations, is that the corrupt news media and the Democrats will do all that they can to portray these encounters and arrests as violations of the civil rights of these “poor, unfortunate immigrants who just want to pursue the American Dream”.  ACLU lawyers will crawl out of the woodwork like cockroaches to defend these criminals from deportation back to whatever “crap-hole country” that they came from (I paraphrase then President Trump during his first term in office).

The Democrats and the news media need to recognize that with Tom Homan they’re not dealing with your typical government bureaucrat scared of losing his government pension who will succumb to public pressure. With Homan they’re up against someone who doesn’t give two ‘hoots’ about political games. He’s not answerable to the Democrats in Washington, he’s answerable to President Trump. And to the American people who resoundingly told the politicians in Washington back in November that they’re fed up!  They want these criminals arrested and deported, and quickly.

For whatever it’s worth I offer only words of encouragement and support to Tom Homan and the men and women of ICE who will be carrying out this mandate. And to hell with all the video cameras, do what you have to do to cleanse our streets of these violent criminals, and ship them back from whence they came.

Police work is not a job for the squeamish.  Nor for ‘Monday-morning quarterbacks’ who have all the time in the world to review what happened and then second guess the actions taken when police have to make decisions in an instant.

Just get it done, Mr. Homan; we have your back.
