Democrats Appeal to Miserable People

So, Labor Day morning, I decided to get out of the house for a little bit – a chance to clear my head from all the crap happening – and check out refrigerators on sale at Lowe's. On the way there, I drive through one intersection with a group of about 15 leftists holding signs about “Fight Trump” and “End Oligarchy!” I doubt any of them could define oligarchy, but they’re ready to fight it! A few more intersections, a few more mutant gatherings, and one thing became clear: Democrats are miserable people.

Imagine having a day off work – a federal holiday – and you choose not to spend it with family and friends, but to get up early and run to an intersection to wave signs with slogans as stale as their hairdos at cars full of people who are going about their lives in a way you don’t seem capable of doing. It’d be sad if they weren't such horrible people.

“Fight the takeover,” read one sign held above the head of an old woman who was old enough to be a grandmother, or even a great-grandmother, but likely wasn’t, thanks to what I’d guess was a series of abortions. Otherwise, what kind of person would rather be with strangers on a holiday than their own family?

By the way, the “takeover” of what must be fought? I didn’t stop to ask; I’d just had breakfast and could only guess at the smell of these crusted-up hippie retreads and didn’t want to suffer a “reversal,” as they say at the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest.

But I assume, since every other sign was about how Trump was either Hitler, a king, or some new mutation of whatever fever dream only eating tofu and avoiding soap causes the mind to invent, they were talking about a “takeover” of the federal government by Trump. That seems a little odd, considering these people screech “THIS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE” when they wake up in a cold sweat from night-terrors.

Donald Trump won the election, fair and square, and by a lot, yet these intellectual zombies don’t seem to understand that that means he is doing what “democracy” dictates. Republicans won control of the House and Senate, in addition to it. We won the popular vote and the “Congressional popular vote,” which was never a thing until Democrats invented it a few years ago to justify their obstinacy in opposing Donald Trump the first time.

No unit of measure has Democrats in the majority in the country, and it’s not even close. No matter what poll they cite or make up, Donald Trump and Republicans are lightyears ahead of Democrats and their 19 percent favorability rating. Shingles is more desired than Democrats are.

Yet, with this as the backdrop, a small battalion of mutants chose to spend their day off waiving signs like “Tax the Rich.”

By the way, the town I was driving through at the time is pretty wealthy. These were not poor people, dressed in Ralph Lauren casual wear, with BMWs parked nearby. These were the rich; the largely retired (by the looks of it). Typical leftists who advocate for things they will never face themselves. Their money is earned, their income has already been taxed, their houses are paid off, and they’re free to spend their energy fighting to impose their dying 1960s dreams on people who’ve unambiguously rejected them.

I want to think I’ll spend the end of my life with my wife, kids, and future grandkids, and traveling to visit friends and other family, not standing on a corner wasting my time on the back nine of life, complaining about whoever the President is simply because my party has nothing to offer other than hate and rage.

Brilliant people don’t allow themselves to be emotionally manipulated into “action” that is only done because there is nothing else the party can offer to excite its base. Anger is a poor substitute for a vision or agenda, but considering what they stand for, it’s the best they’ve got, and the people on the streets with nothing better to do are the only people it appeals to. They deserve each other.
