In a few weeks, Donald Trump has done what his prevaricating predecessor declared to be impossible: he has brought the border under control. Those of us who watch the goings and comings of illegal border crossings are familiar that Donald Trump 45 did a stellar job of taking a border crisis and bringing it within appropriate management.
For instance, in the Yuma sector alone, Trump 45 brought encounters with illegal aliens to a previously unheard of 8600 in the last year of Trump’s first term. That was astounding, especially in light of Biden’s border crisis which often saw more encounters in a weekend than in Trump’s entire last year.
But now, under Trump 47’s policies, the number of encounters has dropped to about 8600 for the entire border—north, south, land, and sea. Miraculous, some would say. ICE’s arrests of illegals have increased over 600% compared to Biden. Migrant shelters have shut down due to a lack of use. I say it is a monumental change. Unheard of. What President Trump 47 has done is to demonstrate clearly that enforcing the law is the biggest inducement for illegal aliens to stay away or to go home.
During one briefing I had with top CBP leaders, I was told that caravans that had formed during Biden’s last days in office, and were trying to get to the border before President Trump was inaugurated, had turned around the day of his inauguration. Simply promising to enforce the law and prevent entry had caused caravans of those intent on breaching our border to disband.
This kind of border control has never been established under any previous presidential administration. And what do the Leftists who control some of our major cities have to say?
In Denver, the Mayor promised a “Tiananmen Square moment” to prevent enforcement of our laws. Of course, his promise of obstruction of legal enforcement activities shows his contempt for the law.
He joins the mayors of Chicago, Boston, Tucson, and the governors of Arizona and California in proclaiming their jurisdictions off limits to enforcement of immigration laws. They are the last holdouts of lawlessness in a nation that has been ravaged by an invasion of illegal aliens under the malevolent Biden Administration.
Never forget that Biden and his Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas insisted that the borders should be open and humane. The result was millions of illegal aliens poured into America, many hundreds of thousands were criminals who preyed upon American citizens.
Biden and Mayorkas claimed that there was no way to stop the onslaught, so they created programs to facilitate illegal entry into the United States, prevent law enforcement from doing its job, and launder billions of dollars to cartels through nongovernment organizations (NGOs).
Biden and Mayorkas attempted to kill our border and American sovereignty under the guise of humanity. They didn’t care about human smuggling, trafficking, child trafficking, and sex trafficking. They didn’t care about the rapine imposed upon most women and girls and many men and boys by the violently evil criminal cartels who controlled our southern border. They didn’t flinch at the hundreds of thousands of Americans who died due to fentanyl poisoning.
The policies of Joe Biden and Alejandro Mayorkas will forever be a stain on America.
The border is now almost completely controlled by America, not Mexican drug and human trafficking cartels.
That only has happened because President Trump has the will and leadership skills to allow our law enforcement to actually enforce the law. Trump said he would do it. He is doing it. Kudos to him, the leadership at the Department of Homeland Security, and its enforcement agencies. And thanks to the frontline CBP agents and ICE officers.
America is safer now. Our borders are better now. Trump is delivering on one of his signature campaign promises. While the Left in America is face-melting, the majority of us recognize the success on the border of President Trump.
