With an array of parties, bashes, and other gatherings taking place during the week of the White House Correspondents Association, it was expected that Politico would be all over the various functions and who is involved.
The site detailed what it considers one of the hottest gatherings in the district, and it is the one put on by Donald Trump Jr. at his private club, the Executive Branch. It is said that demand for invites to tonight's party is four times greater than the location capacity, and that access for the press is somewhat...limited.
According to one source, "Only non-fake news is allowed in.”

“Here is all the proof to prove me…incorrect!”
It is a fine amusement to watch the press work itself into a lather attempting to defend the Southern Poverty Law Center, caught funding hate groups, in the FBI indictment. The first dose of mirth comes from their saying this is a baseless attack by the Bureau, when a grand jury saw fit to move things to a trial, so it is hardly wishcasting taking place.
But in trying to defend their activities, the media are turning desperate, and perhaps the prime example of this is from the local Tennessee station where noted anti-Trump extremist Phil Williams plies his trade.
Williams was trying to combat Megan Basham, from The Daily Wire, denying that the indictment stipulated that the SPLC funded any hate group events. As proof, he offered up the link to a piece on the topic, where it literally quotes the indictment, which stated how they paid an organizer of the Unite the Right rally, directed him to post racist content online, and even organized transportation to the rally.
Best of all – Phil was the one who wrote that article.

Could Peter's forgetting his prior positions on the matter be deemed a mental health issue??
Peter Baker felt the need to reference a poll that shows a plurality of Americans suspect that President Trump does not have the proper mental faculties to run the country.

This sure feels like one of those attacks on the media I keep hearing about.
Just a quick reminder that this week, the White House correspondents are having their prom Saturday night, where they are pushing the 1st Amendment and freedom of the press.
We say this, as Vanity Fair has come out with a scorching assessment of what is taking place at CBS News. Writer Aidan McLoughlin slams both Tony Dokoupil and Bari Weiss for the failed revamping of the “CBS Evening News” in the ratings.
This continues what we have seen this week, since journalists declaring other journalists are unqualified as journalists during the journalist cotillion week, when journalists are braying about protecting the integrity of journalists, is just too precious to take.

We have mentioned how the Hollywood tabloid site TMZ was making a foray into D.C., setting up a new bureau in the district. They have also now become credentialed to cover things inside the Pentagon, it appears. (It will be hilarious to learn which former media cubicle they have taken over.)
The outlet was at the most recent presser with Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and unsurprisingly took a unique line of questioning.
- TMZ's Jacob Wasserman: "I’ve heard you talk a lot about bombing people in places. And when you give these orders to carry out this extreme level of violence, what’s going through your mind and your body? Do you have, like, an adrenaline rush? Are you scared? You folks sound impressed by this plan.
Over at WaPo, they seem a bit excitable over a plan Bernie Sanders has cooked up. He is looking to combat the inroads that Turning Point USA has been making on college campuses, so he has cooked up a program dubbed “A More Perfect University”. The plan is to try to sway college students to the side of liberalism.
He wants to encourage liberal thought. On college campuses.
This is like a plan to build a sandbox in the desert, but WaPo thinks it is a wise plot on the part of Sanders.

Not all sources are equally anonymous, or something like that.
At CNN, Erin Burnett displays the fluid benefits of anonymity when it comes to news stories, and which side is impacted by the details.
She expressed dismay when it was learned that donors to the fund for the budget of the White House ballroom construction were permitted to remain anonymous.
But in a matter of days, she seemed perfectly fine with nameless individuals serving another cause. Erin had on Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), who was calling for Congressional hearings into FBI Director Kash Patel, based solely on the article from The Atlantic, where not a single source was on the record, and there was no way to know what position they held or whether the individuals had any way of knowing the details they delivered to the reporter.
