Both Kinds of Standards – MSNBC

  • Now from where do you suppose he got his inspiration?!

On “Morning Joe,” they were speaking with the reliably imbalanced Senator Chris Murphy about the news that former FBI Director James Comey might soon be indicted. Scar-Joe, Mika, and Murphy (not a college comedy troupe) all fulminated on the significance of a leader targeting his political enemies.

If you were wondering how much contemplation they displayed about Trump having been on the receiving end of the very warnings they were intoning, the answer would be somewhere between minuscule and ZERO.

DNC PR Firm – MSNBC

  • So, you want a DOJ insurrection, is that the message being sent here?!

Following the “Morning Joe” theatrics, Ana Cabrera had a panel of intelligence experts to pontificate over what should take place if Comey is, in fact, indicted. After Cabrera described it as “such a dire moment,” her guests speculated that members of the DOJ should rise up in angry opposition.

So not only are they promoting a rebellion inside the highest police agency, they are expecting this to play out in reaction to a man who has not been involved in the FBI since Trump’s first term in office.

Criminal Family Album – THE INDEPENDENTS

  • Finding no evidence in his past cancels out the evidence that has been uncovered?!

We are seeing a bit of a trend developing in the press regarding these acts of violence when they involve someone on the left: Reaching back in their past to find disqualifying details that muddy the waters regarding a motive. With Charlie Kirk’s murderer, recall, we were fed images of him as a 12-year-old using guns with his family. Now, we have independent journalist Ken Klippenstein attempting the same with the Dallas ICE sniper.

He found childhood friends who knew the shooter since middle school, and they all agreed he was mostly apolitical and not involved in current events.

One common thread with these character witnesses – they all attest that the shooter had turned into a loner and they distanced themselves from him as he descended into the social swamps of Reddit and became more antisocial. All three detailed that they hadn’t  spoken with the shooter for years.

BlueAnon – MSNBC

  • “Well, we do not like this evidence, so we’ll just blame the other side!”

In discussing the possible motivation of the Dallas shooter who fired on an ICE facility, specifically the fact that messages were written on the bullets, former FBI agent Christopher O’Leary was brought on to explain that this means some form of extreme right-wing influence was in play. His proof? He cites an event from six years ago to lay it in the lap of white supremacists, claiming this is THEIR tactic.

Small matter, you hack: Luigi Mangione, the Minnesota school shooter, and Charlie Kirk’s killer, all did the same thing.

Border-line Obsession – ASSOCIATED PRESS

  • Looks like some punctuation would help you to follow your own stylebook.

In a rather blatant example of making a slanted headline in order to reframe an immigration story, we have the AP making a border agent out to sound like a callous and dismissive individual during a shooting.

During a traffic stop where an illegal alien was to be apprehended, the party attempted to flee, and may have hit an agent with his vehicle, leading to shots being fired. When reading the headline to this story, understand that the agent was commenting on his own injuries.

Artisanally-Crafted Narratives – PUBLIC RADIO EXCHANGE

  • Well…technically, she was not calling ICE agents Nazis…

During a panel with Eugene Robinson and Jonathan Capehart, they were kicking around the activities of ICE agents in Chicago, and the network that loves to call border agents The Gestapo, their guest, Maria Hinojosa, brought that accusation from a different perspective.

She claims that Hispanic children are scared to leave their homes, calling them “little Anne Franks — Anita Francos.”
