Both Kinds Of Standards – ABC NEWS
Today this is problematic, but four months ago, not so much.
We aren’t sure just what the heck is going on at ABC News, but someone needs to hold a seminar for the journalists to explain how their past reporting is entirely researchable. How this is a mystery is quite frankly a…well, a perplexing concept.
First, the cackling hens on “The View” were upset over President Trump granting some pardons recently, with the founding documents scholar Whoopi Goldberg declaring Trump was violating the Constitution; this is the same Whoopi who raved when Joe Biden pardoned his own family preemptively.
The View praised Biden for pardoning his son Hunter and the rest of his crime family, but now have a problem with Trump's pardons.

Now getting in on the same act is Jonathan Karl, who seems to see it as a problem that Trump pardons people who are supportive of him and his agenda. Frankly, we are at a loss when any other Democratic president was in the practice of pardoning people they consider to be their political enemies, but then it would require introspective reporting from the likes of Mr. Karl when, say, Joe Biden was delivering sweeping pardons – as reported at his own network.

4 months ago this was not a problem, even though these were sweeping, preemptive pardons covering over a decade. https://t.co/tcCnVr6g9A pic.twitter.com/cudiRie8Gm
Race to the Bottom – WASHINGTON POST
So…judging on merit and accomplishment will…affect only minorities…?
This weekend, the Department of Defense ran a public service announcement about how the military will do away with woke policies like electric tanks, gender ideology, and climate issues. The primary focus will be to build up our defenses with strong-willed fighters intent on winning missions. One thing never referenced in this spot was ethnicity, which can only mean one thing – it was entirely racist!
At WaPo, they posted an editorial that declared outright that if you are black or brown then the military does not want you. The columnist arrives at this conclusion because they will only seek out the best soldiers for service. Of course for this to mean blacks and browns will become excluded is a sign of racism…by the writer, Philip Thompson.
He goes on to explain:
To my eyes, the campaign against 'wokeism' is not about military readiness or discipline. It’s a thinly veiled attack on diversity, equity and inclusion — values that reflect both the reality of the American people and the strength of a united fighting force.
If he actually thinks diversity, equity, and inclusion are the best attributes for military readiness then he needs to enlist in battle for something like The Cupcake Wars.

Presentation Paradox – LOS ANGELES TIMES
Even if it is not happening, the idea that it could happen is bad enough!
Is it too much to expect a modicum of accuracy in headlines? I mean granted, this is another case of reporting on individuals facing deportations, a topic the press seems intent on ALWAYS getting wrong, but shouldn’t it at least be a prerogative that a deportation is actually taking place?!
At the LA Times, they give us this alarming, heart-tugging headline of the cruel efforts by the DHS and deportation of illegals.
4-year-old Bakersfield girl facing deportation could die within days of losing medical care https://t.co/1oz5ggIEiY
— Los Angeles Times (@latimes) May 27, 2025
This centers on a family permitted to come into the country so their toddler could receive life-saving care. So, right up front, we are not dealing with those in this country illegally. But then after all of the deflective drama is presented, we finally have the report getting around to quoting from an official on this matter, and it becomes a completely different story.
Care to explain yourselves, @LATimes???

Both Kinds of Standards – PBS NEWS HOUR
More of that “straight down the middle” reporting by splitting the issue in two parts and then opposing both sides.
Reaching back from the holiday weekend for this nugget we had yet to cover. On the “PBS NewsHour,” the braintrusts of Jonathan Capehart and David Brooks were discussing the debate over the Big Beautiful Bill in Congress. Brooks in particular was a standout as he was the one who delivered the claim PBS reports straight down the middle a few weeks back, regarding their impending defunding of taxpayer dollars.
Apparently by this he means looking at an issue involving Trump from two perspectives, and complaining about both sides. He was carping about the fact that there were proposed spending cuts, and at the very same time, barking about the fact that it did not do enough to address the deficit.
This is what passes for unbiased wisdom at PBS?
Low-Octane Gaslighting – FOX CHANNEL 13, SEATTLE
You know, if those religious types did not gather then the opposition violence would not have to take place!
In Seattle, some Christian groups legally held a rally and they attracted a collection of Antifa and pro-LGBπ groups which incited violence at the gathering, leading to dozens of arrests, all involving the uninvited counter-protesters.
Local station KCPQ-13 covered this with distinctly slanted headlines, making the implication that the arrests involved the Christian group, and declaring the event to be a “controversial protest.”
In about five days, more than 30 people have been arrested at conservative Christian rallies in Seattle. https://t.co/nhXPXXQqJV
