Our former heroes on the Right have made up their mind: they hate Israel more than they love the United States.
Imagine going to a restaurant and seeing your favorite Yankees pitcher having dinner with his family. You've been a Yankees fan since you were in diapers, and their ace is right there at the table next to yours. You go over to get an autograph for your son, and he somewhat unpleasantly says he is "off duty" and would appreciate being left alone. You are crushed. Even when he leaves, he does not come over to sign an autograph. From that moment forward, you detest him. I recently heard a similar story from a Chicago rabbi who said that as a kid, he and other children ran over to Michael Jordan's car to get autographs. As he was slow, he was the last kid to get to the door. Jordan told him to move his hand as he was closing the door. He took it as Michael threatening to close the door on his hand. He told his parents that he hated Michael Jordan. His father sent a letter to the Bulls star's home address. Shortly thereafter, a phone call: Michael Jordan asked for the boy and said that after their next game, he would autograph anything he wanted. "Are you still my fan?" "Of course!"
When our Yankees fan goes to a game and the fellow who blew him off pitches, he doesn't know what to feel. On the one hand, he wants the Yankees to win. On the other hand, he would love to see this guy get shellacked, pulled before the third inning. So he starts to come up with some really weird theories: the pitcher gets injured and the Yankees go on to win. The pitcher gives up lots of runs, gets pulled, and the Yankees rally in the seventh for the victory. Somehow, he wants to thread the needle of Yankees good/pitcher bad. But since the pitcher is so important to the Yankees' success, it's a hard line to hold.
There seems to be a terrible disconnect for many of the former stars of the Right: Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelley, Candace Owens, the Hodge twins, Carrie Prejean, and others. They hate Israel. One can try to explain why—whether it is Qatari cash or their expressed Christian beliefs, but it doesn't matter. They have all expressed in the past their great patriotic love of the United States and their support for Donald Trump. The Hodge Twins used to end their anti-Democrats screeds with, "Trump 2020. Yeah." They also expressed in the past either respect and/or concern for Israel. Their positions were indistinguishable from the MAGA line of having a strong Israel and supporting her against terrorists and terror states. But now they have all come to hate Israel. Each has attacked Israel in the recent past, accused her of a genocide in Gaza, and more recently of somehow pushing Donald Trump into a war against Iran. When one listens to them, they make it sound like Donald Trump is either a doll controlled by Bibi Netanyahu or so simple that he cannot decide what is best for the United States.

The president, his vice president, the secretary of state, and various members of Congress and the military have made it clear that Iran was pursuing and was continuing to pursue a program that would yield deliverable nuclear weapons. I guess that the lunatic Right would wait for Israel to get nuked and then say, "Whoa, now we have to stop Iran before they can do the same to us!" Like our Yankees fan, they could at least get rid of the Jewish state and hope that there were enough innings left to save the U.S. Trump, Vance, Rubio, and others have made it clear that Iran was restarting its nuclear program and was hellbent on having thousands of ballistic missiles, each version having a longer range and a bigger payload. Carlson and Kelley refuse to accept Trump's argument that Iran not only killed and maimed many Americans over the decades but was on a path to destroy America if unchecked. No less than Steve Witkoff has come out to say that the Iranian negotiators bragged that they had enough enriched uranium for 11 bombs and that they had a "right" to enrichment that could not be negotiated. Have you ever seen the movie where a guy has 10 guns to his head and he tries to dictate the terms of negotiations? That sounds about where the Iranians were. I don't know how you say "hubris" in Persian, but that word was probably tattooed on their leaders' arms.
So now our former darlings of the Right have to bend themselves into pretzels in order to somehow claim that they are "America First" but opposed to its president and the country's most reliable ally. Pete Hegseth even said that Israel is a great ally as it pulls its weight and doesn't whine like America's European friends. A recent Pentagon report said that Israel was a "model ally." So how do you hate on Israel while not hating on America and not hating too much on the country's president? I don't watch Tucker Carlson, but I do see people on X who bring snippets from his programs. He somehow has the Mossad planning to bomb Qatar and Saudi Arabia in order to push them into a war with Iran. Well, heck, the Iranians did it for Carlson and bombed those two countries and many more. Even Hezbollah sent exploding drones into Cyprus in order to support the mullahs' sinking ship. So where are Carlson's receipts? In the past, he claimed that Bibi was telling local leaders that he "controlled" Trump—again without any sources or forms of confirmation. Really? Can anyone control Donald Trump? Maybe Melania. After that, forget about it. Donald Trump could play professional football without a helmet. He is Teddy Roosevelt in a suit. Megyn Kelly conveniently told us that Mark Levin forced the war on Donald Trump. Even Levin was astonished by his supposed control of the White House. Prejean called Trump an "Israel-funded traitor."
It would appear that the U.S. and Israel bombing Iran together is much greater than the sum of its parts. There were two dozen aerial refueling tankers at Ben Gurion Airport last week. Israel has very limited tanker support. Having all of those U.S. tankers allows Israel's hundreds of planes to stay aloft longer and run more sorties. The U.S. and Israel are sharing intel and helping each other make bomb runs more precise and successful. This is not the story of allies who cannot stand each other but have no choice but to work together against a hated enemy—like England and Russia against Hitler. Remember, Churchill pushed for the overthrow of the new communist government immediately after the First World War. Instead, we have Israeli and American pilots and service members working professionally around the clock in order to defang one of the world's most dangerous threats.
Our former right-wing darlings have pushed themselves to the end of a branch that is about to break. There are reports from Laura Loomer and others that President Trump has stated that Carlson and Kelly can say what they want, but they have no effect on him or the MAGA movement. Ouch. They can join Nazi-loving Nick Fuentes, who told his "followers" to vote Democratic later this year. MAGA does not hate Israel and understands that, since 1979, the Iranian theological leadership has been determined to harm America. Ayatollah Khomeini released the hostages as Ronald Reagan entered the White House: he knew what a real American leader could do to Iran.
Editor's Note: For decades, former presidents have been all talk and no action. Now, Donald Trump is eliminating the threat from Iran once and for all.
