There are various challenges facing the United States that leave no room for compromise.
For most normal people, compromise is not a dirty word. We often try to find a point of agreement in negotiations with our kids, business partners, and others. Compromising on details that do not include principles often leads to deals getting done. Donald Trump is the king of deal-making, and his success often involves parties getting most of what they want but not everything.
While compromise can often be useful for progress, there are times where there is no room for compromise. Just as no woman was every 1/3 pregnant, so too there are principles that either are respected or lost. The US faces at least two major, existential challenges going forward. Neither allows for finding a middle ground. Either we win and keep a constitutional republic or we lose everything we have known for 250 years as a country. The two challenges:
- A metastasizing Left that wants to go full Marxist
- A version of Islam bent on domination and not just being another religion in the US
In the past, such as in the days of Ronald Reagan and Tip O’Neill or Newt Gingrich and Bill Clinton, compromise could still be found to advance legislation or the interests of the country. As I wrote in the past, until the past two decades, Congress was nearly monolithic with white, Christian men of similar values and economic backgrounds. While there could be profound differences in policy views, the baseline values were generally the same, and the only job was to find a point where both parties could claim some level of victory. That was then but that definitely is not now. When one looks at the Democrats, especially the younger ones, they are mostly not religious. They all went to college where they were brainwashed by leftwing professors. They are in favor of open borders, endless governmental handouts unrelated to Treasury income, trans, climate change, and every other modern fad. One of the reasons why so little legislation has passed since the last election is that the Republicans have small majorities (and not the 60 votes often needed in the Senate) and the other side has what they call in Israel “rosh b’kir” which literally means having one’s head in a wall. There is nobody to talk to on the other side. The US is blessed with massive hydrocarbon resources, but the left is certain that their use will lead to destruction. The US is a country first and foremost for its citizens, but the left believes that borders are racist and that everyone has a right to come to the US and get benefits.
Someone claimed that Elon Musk will throw a lot of resources at the upcoming midterm elections. He understands that if the left gains an upper hand in either house of Congress, then nothing will get accomplished. He also understands that should the Democrats win the presidency in 2028, then the country as we have known since the days of the Revolution will only be a memory. The policies of the ascendant AOC/Bernie Sanders wing of the Democratic Party are Marxism peddled as some kind of smiley-faced socialism. Mamdani hid nothing when he said that enough with the rugged individualism that produced great generals, thinkers, business leaders, athletes, and citizens. No, we need the warmth of collectivism that has left millions dead in the former Soviet Union, China, Cuba and elsewhere. Collectivism never works because humans never stop being humans: people still want more and they look for some advantage over the sap who believes the nonsense being peddled to him. In a capitalistic system, if a person wants more, let him work more or take greater financial risk. In a socialist system, those on the top somehow always end up better off than the ones who get the short end of the collectivist stick.
If the US is going to in any way resemble what the Founding Fathers bequeathed to following generations, then the Democrats must be defeated at every turn. We can see the billions in fraud in Democratic-run states. We can see the billions wasted in California on a train to nowhere. There is no room to let the hyper-lefty wing of the Democratic party rule at any level of American government. The days of “normal” Democrats are long gone. John Kennedy would not recognize the party so closely associated with his family; his nephew was all but driven out.
Threat number 2: Muslim Brotherhood Islam. I do not study Islam, so I cannot explain why countries like the UAE, Malaysia, and Jordan do not seem to either project or support any effort to eradicate the Christian West. I enjoyed my time in Dubai and would go back there in a second. And while there are Muslims in and out of the West who do not appear to be any threat to the traditional order, there is another branch of the religion whose guiding principle is the destruction of all that is not Islam. Qatar, Iran, Turkey, The Muslim Brotherhood and its branches that include Hamas all hold a version of Islam that does not allow for the continued existence of Jews or Christians. Some, including imams in the West, come right out and say: “We are here to conquer your countries!” Others say nothing, but use school boards, local elections and fundraising for the specific goal of creating a broad caliphate. My wife just related a local TV investigation of a Hamas-funded body in Israel giving out Hebrew-language Korans and working to convert Israeli youths. The desire for Israel’s destruction did not end with the recent Gaza War.
Just as some communication devices only pick up certain wavelengths, open and accepting Western societies do not have their radars set for people coming in order to conquer them. If a million Jews came to France, the immediate outcome would be better bagels and gefilte fish. When a million Muslims come from some of the worst countries in the world, many of those arriving have no interest in the local laws, culture, or language. They want whatever benefits they can receive and plot how they will take over the local government on their way to the national government. The traditional West would never have allowed for uncontrolled immigration with insufficient vetting. But the New Left (see above) saw a great opportunity to A) make up for babies not being produced by the locals, B) soothe their consciences over being white and successful, and C) start their countries on a one-way ticket to oblivion. We all know the cases of locals who received harsher prison sentences for internet comments than illegal aliens who committed actual crimes. One woman received more jail time for calling her attacker a pig than did the criminal. Another fellow was absolved of sexual assault because the judge claimed that the attack was too short in nature. When a country puts its citizens in the back seat, it will not be long before there will no longer be any country.
The post-Oct. 7 melding of the two existential threats—lunatic left and Muslims—makes perfect sense and no sense whatsoever. It makes perfect sense as they both want to destroy the countries we have known as the United States, England, France, etc. On the other hand, the Muslims have zero tolerance for homosexuals or trans. For them, women are chattel and best for them not to leave the house. The marriage is clearly one of convenience. Americans need to wake up to the fact that these two groups hate the United States as we know and cherish it. Before it is too late as in Europe, they both need to be confronted and stopped.
