Democrats are pushing away voters. Apparently, they are advancing the Bud Lite/Cracker Barrel business model for politics.
One of the ways that Bernie Madoff kept his popularity with high net worth individuals and organizations was by turning some of them away. By pretending that he could not take some people’s money, he created an image of a superstar investment manager that would not deign to take just anybody’s cash. We know how that story turned out.
Imagine going to a restaurant only to find the owner chasing people out of his establishment. Before they could order, customers found a red-faced fellow screaming at them and demanding that they leave the premises immediately. This shtick goes on night after night. And thus no one is surprised when a month after opening the restaurant closes its door and has a For Sale sign on it.
The Democratic Party, once the champion of workers, legal immigrants, the poor, and minorities has developed a new model in which it chases away voters in the name of ideological purity. Let’s take a look:
- Tell Jews that they want to kill them via an intifada.
- Tell women that they are completely replaceable with men in sports, pregnancy and all facets of life—including a guy pretending to be a woman and demanding access to the ladies bathroom in the US Congress.
- Tell whites that they are guilty of all bad things from America’s inception until today.
- Tell young men and boys that they are useless and just getting in the way of progress.
- Tell blacks that illegal aliens are far more interesting and worthy of their largess and attention
- Tell soldiers and normal men to drop the “toxic masculinity” and attend a drag queen story hour.
Blacks and Jews still support the Democrats at numbers that are higher than they should be. White Gen Z men voted for Donald Trump at 67% while those younger came in at a 75% clip. It is reported that 4.5 million voters have changed their affiliation from donkey to elephant of late. And the reason is that the Democrats today can brook no dissent or variation of opinions. Most Americans are opposed to abortion being illegal; they also are not comfortable with abortion until birth. Donald Trump wisely stated early in his campaign that each state will formulate its own policy. The Democrats? If a candidate came along and suggested abortion through the first trimester, the DNC would not not support him or her. And if they felt threatened enough, they might run someone in a primary to challenge the “heretic”. The same is true for a potential Democrat who supports the Second Amendment or believes that immigration should be legal and controlled. While these people would be speaking in the language of most Americans (there are over 400 million guns in private hands in the US), the party would not endorse such a candidate or fund a run for office. Kurt Schlichter has pointed out that Maine’s senator, Susan Collins, is the most Republican that one could hope to get out of a very liberal state. The Democrats don’t buy that approach: head for the AOC/Sanders/Mamdani/Warren wing of the party or go join the Republicans. They drove away Bobby Kennedy, Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard and made it clear that they were no longer welcome in the party they had made home for decades.
When an ideology such as Marxism or socialism is not only not based on reality but stands diametrically opposed to reality, it can accept no challenge or questions. The Democrats want unlimited abortion until birth. Most Americans believe that as a fetus becomes more developed, the “clump of cells” argument falls in the face of something that looks quite human and has a measurable heartbeat. The Democrats can’t buy into any limits as they have tied the subject into women’s health and “my body, my choice” rhetoric. It’s funny that they have no problem with guys pretending to be women sending actual women to the hospital with physical injuries from contact sports. They also abandoned the “my body, my choice” when they forced people to take the experimental mRNA vaccines on pain of losing a job, not being able to fly, or getting kicked out of the military. The thing with Democrats is that they never catch the irony: there was great danger in having a church service in a parking lot with masks, but a full-fledged BLM riot with thousands of people was no real risk of virus spread. That’s why people are abandoning the sinking USS Democrats: they are ideologically rigid and they don’t really care about Americans and the reality of their lives.
The AOC branch of the party would have been the weird wing of the party in the days of Kennedy, Carter and even Clinton. There was that “Occupy Wall Street” crowd in Obama's day, but they were small in numbers. As more boneheaded college graduates have been produced, the kooky wing of the party effectively performed a reverse merger with the old-time Democratic Party. The party of Pelosi, Hoyer, Schumer and Durbin became the party of lunatics. The formerly normalish Democrats realized that they had better start dancing to the new drummer, so we saw people like Pelosi and Schumer mouthing policy ideas—and swearing—like the younger members of the party. The old guard is terrified because as we see with Mamdani in New York, the new wing is poised to kiss the old-timers goodbye. AOC is polling much higher than Schumer for the New York senate seat he holds and would like to continue holding.
Years ago, a very famous college football college jumped to the NFL. He took his new team to 4-0 in the preseason. The problem for him was that when the real season started, his guys started to get crushed. He did not last long in the big league and made his way back to college ball. The AOC wing is the big man on the Democrats’ campus, but out in the real world, more and more Americans are being turned off by talk of reparations, universal income, unfettered immigration, reduced policing, no cash bail, trans, climate change and the rest. The Democrats live in a bubble where all of their ideas sound perfect. Once that bubble is pierced and they face normal Americans, their ideas are rejected with both hands. Donald Trump won all seven swing states; none of them was buying the Obama-Biden-Harris approach to running the country. Every single demographic increased its percentage support for Donald Trump in 2024 versus 2016.
The Democrats are not losing voters; they are driving them away. If you do not hold the line according to all of their extremist positions, they would rather be without you. That approach contrasts with Donald Trump’s big tent approach that made room for former competitors like Marco Rubio, Bobby Kennedy, Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard. The goal in politics is to win; the goal for the Democrats is to be ideologically pure.
Rob Reiner asks the manager of the Spinal Tap band about their being booked into much smaller venues than in previous years. He asks if the band is less popular. “No, their appeal is becoming more selective.” Apparently, it’s fitting that “Meathead” is such a big Democrat and hater of Donald Trump. His party’s appeal is truly becoming more and more selective.
