Nothing changes because nobody on the Arab side wants change.
We live in an age of empty men and institutions. The UN General Assembly, composed of every recognized nation on Earth, has no binding power in its resolutions. It can resolve that we live on the moon and that the Earth circles around us. It all has no meaning as there is no enforcement power with the body. The Security Council ostensibly has a few teeth left in its mouth but one can almost always find one country to veto a resolution and thus make it null and void.
One of the sins of the UN is the destruction of the world order. In the jungle, each animal knows its place: which animals it can attack and which to avoid at all costs. It used to be the same with countries, the smaller ones did their best to get along with the more powerful bigger ones. The UN treats West Dumpster as it treats the United States. Sure, all men are created equal, but countries should live according to their economic, military, intellectual, and social power. Giving countries like Iran and Cuba seats on a UN human rights committee is a perversion of reality. The Security Council keeps the same permanent members though England and France are little more than tourist attractions today. Their nuclear weapons are meaningless without corresponding powerful armies and economies—something neither has.
Last week, the Arab League—another toothless international body—supposedly stunned the world by unanimously condemning Hamas’ actions on October 7, 2023 and demanding that the terror organization disarm and give up its rule of Gaza. The resolution apparently rubbed the murderers in Gaza the wrong way and for a while they seemed to distance themselves from negotiators Egypt and Qatar, who together with Saudi Arabia signed on to the anti-Hamas declaration. So why did the Arab League vote as it did? I am guessing that Donald Trump and/or Marco Rubio applied some American pressure to the member states: we give you weapons and aid, time to denounce the bad guys. Maybe Muslim countries are waking up to the machinations of the Muslim Brotherhood that are ruining Islam’s name and future in the West. While Muslims and their lefty friends make a lot of noise, they are still minorities in all Western countries. England may be on its way to a civil war, and the numbers favor the patriots and not the immigrants who incessantly complain about the country that took them in and gave them a quality of life they never had in Garbagistan.

While the above may be true, I think the real reason why the Arab League voted on a resolution that on its face supports Israel’s side is that the piece of paper on which the words were written has no meaning in practice. The resolution does not instruct any country to send troops to Gaza to uproot Hamas or offer to hand out checks to Jewish families destroyed by the attack in southern Israel. The declaration made the Americans happy and tried to distance Arab countries from their coreligionists who are setting the world on fire and are risking war in Syria and ejection from Europe. It does nothing in practice, and this was the exact goal of the delegates to the meeting: make a statement and get back on the private jet to go home.
One would like to think that the Arabs realize that Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and the like are bad for the brand. Their mass rapes, torture, murders and now starvation of Jewish hostages are making people feel negative thoughts about Islam, because everything that Hamas does is in the name of Islam. But I don’t think that is the case. It is convenient for Saudi Arabia and the other members of the Arab League to have some group dedicated to killing Israelis while keeping their own hands clean. They can see what Israel did to Hezbollah, Iran and the Houthis due to their attacking the Jewish state. So they say to Hamas, “Bad boy!” while having no intention of putting the group out of business or putting a lid on violent Islam. Many—if not all—of them believe that Israel is “illegal” though every inch of it was paid for either through purchase pre-state or blood in the many wars fought with its neighbors. The Arab League made a statement that pleased the US and did not demand anything real of Hamas to the point of putting their leadership at risk.
As several scholars on the subject have pointed out, the problems faced by Israel and more recently by the West relate to Islam, not Islamism or radical Islam. Those who openly say that they want to kill Jews or turn England into a Sharia state quote accepted Islamic texts and rulings as the basis of their positions. Many in the West try to claim that those in Hamas and their supporters don’t understand their own religion. Look at the UAE where everyone seems so nice and tolerant! It reminds me of some cousins. They were three girls. Two were model daughters who did chores and behaved nicely. The third was the Tasmanian Devil who kicked a soccer ball around the house and made mayhem for her distraught parents. They took her to a shrink. After the visit, he said, “She’s normal for her age. I really don’t understand her two sisters.”
Hamas, ISIS, etc. are a malignancy on Western societies. Their followers and cheerleaders cannot be integrated and will make no agreements that would keep Jewish or Christian societies safe from their actions. Look at the Druze attacked by Syria’s new ISIS army. They took back with them Druze women of all ages to be their slaves—as they had done two decades earlier with Yazidi women. The Muslim states are both afraid of their violent brothers and in some ways agree with their activities and thus make no real effort to either rein them in or denounce them. Qatar is the major funder of the Muslim Brotherhood ideology in the West. Huckster university presidents take in their money and ignore the destructive teaching demands that they attach to their donations. Georgetown has taken in over a billion dollars from the extremist state and Qatar pretty much runs its curriculum. The Arabs cannot destroy Hamas and its ilk because they ultimately agree with a large part of what they claim. They try to insulate themselves from also being overthrown but as to destroying the West or attacking Jews and Israelis, it’s alright now, and in fact, it’s a gas..
Countries like Egypt, UAE, and Jordan are presently dropping food into Gaza from C-130s. If they really hated Hamas, they would not help to keep it afloat by acting as flying UberEats. The Arab countries don’t want to be destroyed by their violent brethren but don’t mind keeping them in business in order to fight Israel and weaken the West. The West needs to get rid of those who wish to destroy its Christian ethos and they need to give Israel a green light to wipe out any group that threatens its citizens and/or existence.
