Tucker Carlson tried to pin Jeffrey Epstein and the lack of files released on Israel.
I kind of promised myself not to write anything more on Tucker Carlson or Jeffrey Epstein. Carlson is so absorbed in his distaste of Israel that there is nothing more to add. He has become like an antibiotic-resistant microbe; facts, entreaties, the will of the sitting president whom he claims to support—none of these things can make him reduce his often baseless criticism. As to Epstein, I already wrote what I think is going on and it is hard to add more when no more information has been made public.
But Carlson had to bring up Epstein at a recent conservative conference. Apparently, some number of people walked out of Carlson’s “Israel is evil” speech. That’s encouraging news. Carlson said that “everybody in Washington” knew that Esptein was a Mossad agent, and it is for this reason that nothing can be released by an administration that as late as a few months ago promised to come clean on the teacher/financier/amoral friend of the rich and shameless. Carlson apparently forgot that it’s well-known that Epstein worked for the CIA. When his case in Florida was turned into a sweetheart deal, the prosecutor, Alex Acosta, was told that Epstein was “an intelligence asset”. And we know that Epstein did work minimally on the Iran-Contra Affair, partly through his close association with arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi. Did Carlson mention that everybody in Washington knew that Epstein worked for the CIA? Nope. Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennet vehemently denied Epstein being a Mossad agent. Mike Benz has stated that there is a possibility that Epstein could have worked for the CIA, MI6, Mossad and/or Saudi intelligence. He had a doctored passport in his safe. Carlson’s intense distaste for Israel cannot let him see straight. Anything bad in the U.S. or the world: Israel and its tentacles (Mossad, prime minister, army) are responsible.

But Carlson wasn’t finished. He threw out an idea that anyone who had served in a foreign army and then became or was in parallel an American citizen should be prevented from voting. Well, whom did he have in mind? American Jews who in the past served in the IDF. I guess that Carlson and his Qatari patrons would have disqualified many of Washington’s men who had been in the British army in their past. That we are not required to serve in the U.S. army is an anomaly. In many countries, there are some requirements for either army or public service. Much of the lefty tantrums we see on campus is an outcome of today’s youth having no connection to the country that has provided them with a life that few in history have enjoyed. That Jews served in the IDF—of what consequence is that to a person’s ability to make a reasoned choice at the ballot box? I would guess that any voter who served in the IDF has a 90 percent likelihood of voting Republican today. As people say that Carlson sounds more and more like AOC, maybe that fact bothers him. Anyway, I stopped following Carlson on X because for every reasonable argument he makes, he has ten blaming the Jewish state for everything bad in the world.
As to Epstein, there may be a question if his apparent intelligence work was one with his providing escorts to wealthy and connected men or if they were separate ventures. Jeffrey Epstein was involved in horrific activities and apparently kept records of his friends/clients when they were at his various properties. I still think that everything should be released and the administration should let the chips fall where they may. The intelligence community always tries to protect its activities, as it fears embarrassment, another Church Committee and once again being banished to the dog house for a decade of reduced staffing and funding. I doubt that there are such big intelligence bombshells in his file as he would have been out of circulation for over a decade and whatever he did could be partially redacted and is in all likelihood closer to ancient history rather than current spycraft. The release of information on billionaires, politicians, and connected individuals and their apparent cavorting with underage girls would be an atomic bomb. But keeping the material locked up and pretending that it doesn’t exist is causing a great deal of consternation. The Democrats see an opening to embarrass the Republicans, and many Trump supporters are disappointed or angry that the promised files have not been made public.
Why does Tucker Carlson hate Israel and blame the Jewish state for Epstein’s actions? Rabbi Josef Ber Soloveichek noted that when Israel retook Jerusalem and the Old City with the Temple Mount certain corners of Christianity experienced a crisis. There was a view that when Titus and his Tenth Legion destroyed the Temple and took the Jews to Rome, that was the end of Judaism. Sure, there would be Jews here and there, but Judaism had been replaced by Christianity (a view advanced by Muslims that Islam has replaced both religions). When the Jews retook the Holy City and effectively reversed their defeat from 1900 years earlier, there were some Christian theologians who were quite troubled by this development as it suggested that God may not be finished with the Jews after all. I know that Carlson and his twin Candace Owens always tout their Christianity—though they don’t seem very interested in the slaughter of Christians in Africa—and maybe they have a theological grudge against the state of Israel. A vibrant, dynamic, and successful state of Israel is a religious affront to them. They can’t say as much as it would come off as prejudice. So instead they go around and around: Bibi controls Trump, Israel is dragging the US into World War 3, Epstein is evil because he was Mossad, the IDF kills too many children in Gaza, etc. Their hatred is deeply personal and nothing will make them think differently.
I was once at a wedding at the Jerusalem Convention Center. I decided to get some air and went for a walk. I came upon a spot where there were windows showing an archaeological site under the building. It was a ceramic workshop of the Tenth Legion. There were tiles with the legion’s insignia. They looked brand new. I immediately went through a time warp and imagined Titus’ men camping there on their way to conquering and destroying the Temple. In three weeks, we have a 24 hour fast over that event. I was witnessing living history. That the Jews in Israel have reversed Titus’ success may be too much for Tucker Carlson to stomach, so he pulled out Epstein to try to blunt Israel’s right to exist.
