Two young adults show us a range of human qualities.

I was never a big fan of the Harry Potter character, Draco Malfoy. That was the idea. He was pompous, rude and entitled. He was the kind of kid you’d invite to a root canal before a birthday party. I didn’t know much about Tom Felton, the British actor who played the spoiled brat in the eight Potter movies and plans to reprise his role on stage. But I just heard him say words that are rarely spoken in our day.

One of the greatest human feelings is that of appreciation of the good performed by others. It may be a doctor who saves one’s life or a store owner who keeps his place open late so that you can get what you need. Expressing gratitude not only makes our world more pleasant and our relationships more meaningful, it also shows that a person can move outside of himself. Expressing thanks shows that a person realizes that there are those around him whose actions have a positive impact on his life. Giving thanks for things big and small shows an awareness of one being a part of a much bigger world than just himself.

JK Rowling spun a tale of a young wizard into a multi-billion dollar empire. When we were at Universal Studios some years back, I asked why they had a huge Harry Potter section that included rides and stores. Potter was a Warner Brothers’ property. I was told that the Potter world was so popular that Universal simply bought the rights to have all of the Potter-themed activities and merchandise. JK Rowling was never controversial in the past, and she was feted as the engine behind the books, movies, merchandise, spin-offs, and theme parks. Then she said some things that twenty years ago would have been as controversial as saying that the sun rises in the east. She made it clear that a woman is a woman and no man can be a woman, and a “trans woman” is nothing more than a man who has personal issues. She was lambasted, threatened, and essentially shunned from lefty polite society. She did not push any weird biological theories; rather, she simply said the obvious, which offended the men who want to be women and their endless supporters around the world. Quiddich, the game she invented, changed its name so as not to be associated with her. People burned her books, to which she reminded the arsonists that she had already made her money when the book was sold. A twenty-year retrospective on the Potter movies included all of 15 seconds of a video of her but no interview or direct participation. And of course, the three main actors playing Potter and his two friends disowned the woman who raised them from bagging groceries into international film stars.

While Daniel Radcliffe and his compatriots tried to be gentle in criticizing Harry Potter’s literary mother, they made it clear that they found her position offensive and wrong. I didn’t know that Hermione and Ron were doctors, but somehow they and Potter were experts in human genetics and concluded that a guy with 30 trillion cells harboring XY chromosomes could morph into a lady just because he said so. Their positions made them the belle of the ball, as half of Hollywood seems to have one or more “trans kid”. It’s all rubbish that has no basis in science. People with serious mental and/or personal problems play act and then demand that we agree with their fantasies.

Enter Tom Felton, aka Draco Malfoy. Felton returns to his role of the blond bad boy on stage. He was asked about Rowling’s views on trans. Here is his answer:

“I’m not really that attuned. The only thing I always remind myself is that I’ve been lucky enough to travel the world. Here I am in New York. And I have not seen anything bring the world together more than Potter, and she’s responsible for that. So I’m incredibly grateful.”

He doesn’t care what her views are. He only knows that through her books and his being cast as a main character, he has had a charmed life. He expresses his gratitude, something which the three central characters are too self-important to do. “She holds bad think. We're done with her.”

On the other spectrum of human behavior we have the pathetic character of Greta Thunberg. The abused and abusive child just ended her selfie boat trip to Gaza. She and her fellow antisemites brought a minuscule amount of “aid” for the Gazans. Israel’s Shayetet 13 (SEALs) intercepted the boat, towed it to Ashdod and took care of its 12 occupants. Thunberg was given a pastrami sandwich, though she claims not to eat gluten or meat. She was flown at our expense to France, though she swore off flying due to the carbon dioxide produced. Everything about her is fake. Israel wanted to show her and her co-conspirators a very painful 47 minute movie shot by various Hamas terrorists and CC cameras of exactly what happened on October 7, 2023. People who have seen the movie cannot get it out of their heads. She and her buddies refused to watch. In Paris, she claimed that Israel was trying to show them “propaganda videos”. Thunberg knows that the video and the professional and kind treatment by Israeli authorities would completely undermine her pro-Palestinian shtick. And for that reason, she needs to block it out with all of her little might. Eight of the twelve chose not to sign deportation documents and are being held until a judge arranges their ejection from Israel. Thunberg claimed that her friends were being held hostage, when they chose not to expedite their egress as Thunberg and three others did. The real hostages in Gaza were not given an option to sign papers and leave.

Tom Felton’s gratitude to the woman who made him rich and famous is refreshing. I am beginning to like Malfoy more. Thunberg’s Jew hatred dressed up as some concern for Palestinians and their murderous overlords is more in line with the times. Greta could make the easy transition from “climate change” to pro-jihad because the people involved in both are the same. She saw that all of the cool kids were doing the keffiyeh thing, so she dropped her concern for the climate and joined the jihadists. She is a loser, and it is a shame that she cannot acknowledge that Israel treated her respectfully. Israel made a medical check on all twelve Nazis to make sure that they were in acceptable health. Whereas Felton knows how to say thanks, Thunberg is an ingrate. She is an ideal friend of the Palestinian people.
