According to many, the left and right are not supposed to play by the same rulebook.

One of the reasons why sports are so popular is the fact that both teams are held to the same rules. If one football team could field 13 players while its opponent was restricted to 11, we could more or less guess the outcome and the actual play would be far less interesting. Through the decades there have been complaints that refs or umps have favored certain teams or players or that the front office had an interest in one team being at the top of the league. Putting those accusations aside, the concept of fairness lets us see who is truly the best; the allowance of guys with all of their strength and physiological advantages to enter women’s competitions is repulsive to us because from the get-go the playing field is by no stretch of the imagination fair. Just this week, a guy who came in last in high jump with the boys just won the girls' championship.

During the Covid pandemic, we noticed that not all people are created equal. Whereas holding a church service or even visiting an empty beach might get you a free ride in a squad car, participating in a massive BLM riot was deemed by the doctors to be just fine. Their specious argument, reminiscent of 100 Authors Against Einstein, was that since racism is a public health problem, the small issue of thousands of people breathing virus particles onto each other deserved a pass. One realized that what was right depended on who you were. If you were busy looting a Target or burning down a police station, then your behavior had the official approval of the media and you could ignore the virus warnings. But if you were holding a religious service as you always had, then you may just find yourself standing in front of a judge. The J6 crowd did not kill anybody, contrary to popular mythology, and they did a lot less damage than their counterparts from BLM. Yet, the former were sent to jail in huge numbers while most summer of 2020 rioters were let go with no punishment or fine. If you want to tsk tsk and say that this is all ancient history, then don’t go to San Francisco, where your speeding ticket will be prorated based on your income. I did not know that Lady Justice took a peek to see who the bad guy was.

One can spend all day if he has a death wish watching politicians of today in days gone past demanding a closed border or solid tariffs against America’s trading partners. Chuck Schumer and Barack Obama sounded positively like Elon Musk in their demand to root out waste and fraud from the federal budget. Bill Clinton could demand that abortion be rare while his wife could support the practice until third grade. Barack Obama could say with a serious face that marriage is between a man and a woman and then turn on a dime to support gay marriage after his vice-president, Joe Biden, beat him to the punch. Politicians changing their views according to the prevailing social and political winds is nothing new. That which is so highly pronounced today is that the acceptance or rejection of an idea has nothing to do with the idea itself but rather the one espousing it. One could run videos of 1990’s Nancy Pelosi and present-day Donald Trump side-by-side discussing the devastating effects of globalism and the need for tariffs to protect American manufacturing. The arguments would be nearly identical. But Pelosi would reject Trump’s program today because it is Donald Trump who is the messenger. The left was gaga over Tesla cars, as they both were beautiful and supposedly addressed “climate change.” Once Elon Musk bought Twitter, allowed free speech, and openly associated with and supported Donald Trump, those same cars became a sign of Nazism. One of the strangest things is that many of those damaging Tesla cars look like older, normal citizens. They may look normal, but their brains have been fried (if you disagree, then tell me that you are ready to key some random guy’s car).

Donald Trump was indicted for having government documents; Joe Biden had taken more for longer and was written off as too mentally incapacitated to stand trial. Donald Trump was tried in New York on a 30-year-old accusation of sexual harassment. Bill Clinton and Joe Biden were allowed by the media to skate by women making similar accusations. Donald Trump was tried in New York on business irregularities. Joe Biden’s son was a vacuum cleaner for foreign money but he and the rest of the Biden clan will never be held accountable for their actions. Hilary Clinton endangered the country by using an unsecured homebrew server in order to avoid FOIA requests. Today, she is free to go to a bar rather than stand behind bars. Tony Fauci misspelled words also to get around FOIA searches; he received a pardon for supposedly no crimes committed.

Today, we live in the strange age where half of the population cannot condemn a violent riot until they know who is behind it. America was founded on the concept of equality before the law, but we saw just in the past few years how lawfare was used to either throw a presidential candidate in jail or attempt to get him removed from multiple state ballots. Many people were not too unhappy about the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. DEI meant that being white or straight or male was a strike against a candidate for college acceptance or getting a job. Supposedly trying to right historical inequalities automatically created no less egregious inequalities for others.

Here in Israel there is a strange pride that both a former president and prime minister were sent to the pokey. Bibi Netanyahu, like Trump, claims that his multiple legal cases are reflective of active lawfare and not any illegality. We have delved so far from normality that acts such as removing fraud, ejecting violent illegal aliens, keeping men out of women’s sports and giving positions based on merit seem absolutely strange. Musk’s X is the greatest antidote to the double standards applied in all aspects of life. Today, the Democrats have latched onto “oligarchs” running the country; they are conveniently reminded that George Soros and other billionaires are the ones funding their protests and other anti-government activities. X shows pictures of AOC flying first class to an anti-oligarch rally. They didn't teach irony at Boston University.

The U.S. cannot stand on a double standard. Either an idea is right or wrong, or someone has been involved in illegality or not. We cannot have a society in which outcomes are first determined by who’s involved. We don’t want to adopt Lavrentiy Beria’s axiom, “Show me the man and I’ll show you the crime.”
