They Should Turn Harvard Yard Into a Parking Lot

If Harvard and similar schools were shut down temporarily to get their acts together, the world would be a better place.

Imagine getting a call from your kid’s school. The principal asks that you and your wife come immediately to her office. You drop what you’re doing and meet your wife at the school. As you enter the principal’s office, you see your son. He is staring at the floor and looks completely miserable. The principal explains that their son interrupts his teachers and terrorizes other students. He will stay at home for a week and then the school will decide whether to allow him back.

On the depressing drive home, not a word is spoken. You and your wife realize that the boy’s behavior is his responsibility but your fault. All of the negative comments about grades and test scores, strict punishments, and disappointments over his being passed over for the football team have all come to a head with a child that is out of control. The child may have done the damage, but it was the parents who created the monster.

I would have hoped that at campuses primarily on the east and west coasts, professors, administrators, and university presidents would be sitting around to discuss how they created the horrific students who have disgraced their schools. How have they made young men and women harass Jewish students, demand the destruction of the democratic state of Israel and its 10 million inhabitants and show support for psychotic terror groups that murdered and raped freely? But these discussions are to the best of my knowledge not taking place. University administrators refuse to rein in violent and aggressive students and their organizers/paymasters from the community. They let them seal off parts of the campus from Jewish students and do damage to campus property. How did modern American colleges and universities take left-leaning, generally normal high school students and turn them into demented Hamas lovers?

There are several things that universities did to create the environment that is now engulfing schools, over a year after the brutal attacks in southern Israel.

*They took in a large number of Muslim and Middle Eastern students. Countries like Qatar and Saudi Arabia pay full tuition, room and board—unlike increasing numbers of American students who need more and more financial aid. U.S. schools have made unholy alliances with these countries, in which the prestigious American schools set up shop in the closed, oppressed countries, and the latter ship over students with all of their hatreds, prejudices and Islamist thinking. The schools are oblivious to these students propagating their Jew-hatred and Israel loathing.

*The universities have become temples of intersectional teaching. In this warped and misguided thinking, all whites and Jews are oppressors. Darker colors are always the oppressed. So billionaire LeBron James is oppressed while a poor miner in Appalachia is an oppressor. Same for the Jewish farmer in Israel murdered by an Iranian-funded terrorist from Gaza. They would not care that the IDF found millions of dollars and shekels in Yahya Sinwar’s underground Gaza hideout.

*The universities are no longer bastions of higher education but rather therapeutic centers for neurotic American youth. While we slept on old beds at Harvard, modern schools must have climbing walls, five-star accommodations, and all of the amenities that you would demand of a high-priced health club. The students run the show and the professors are there to entertain and reaffirm the students’ already held beliefs. Whereas universities of the past were centers of excellence, they are today advanced daycare for pampered students who never grew up. Remember the Yale students who cried and claimed oppression because a professor sent out an email saying that people could dress as they pleased for Halloween?

*Unlike in the past, the universities are letting actors from outside campus use school settings to foment hatred and unrest. Professional organizers were found in the Columbia building that had been taken over. In my day, “townies” were not allowed onto campus.

When one looks at a piece of property, he has to figure out how best to make money out of it. I remember a teaching assistant at Harvard asking us a question. Delta could park a plane in a hangar for the night or fly it near-empty to a given destination. If they sent the plane on its way, it would be cheaper for the company than to leave it on the ground. What should they do? When I think about Harvard, I have a lot of great memories. Some of my best friends today were my classmates there. Many of the most impressive people I have met in my life were students and faculty members of Harvard. But when I look at the Harvard of today, I see the continued Profiles in Cowardice. The interim president suspended a few students to get them off of campus during the pomp and circumstance of graduation. Once the alumni were safely out of Logan Airport, he reinstated the lot. Harvard creates hate. I am sure that the professors who taught that whites are always bad and that Israel is an illegal, occupying colonial power were like their counterparts in the sci-fi movies: the monster will never get out of the lab! But just as in the flicks, the monster got out and took over the quad and the administration building. One sees women who support Hamas rapists over raped and murdered Israeli women—because brown is good and white is bad, and Jewish white is always the worst. Do any of these oversized toddlers ever express concern for the women hostages and the hell they must be experiencing in Gaza? Not a peep. Harvard as a parking lot would at least accomplish two things: help deal with the parking shortage in Cambridge and stop the spread of hatred towards Jews, Israel and the United States.

If universities cannot control Jew-hatred on their campuses, then the time has come for the federal government to stop all funding. Additionally, accreditation bodies should revoke their seal of approval. They want to play hardball; then those who have power over the schools should play it right back.
