Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang announced Monday that he will offer $1,000 a month for a year to a fan who enters his universal basic income giveaway.

The entrepreneur brought up the giveaway in an interview with Stephen Colbert on the Late Show. The contest is meant to mirror Yang’s 2020 campaign proposal titled “Freedom Dividend,” a universal basic income program.

Yang wants the federal government to provide Americans a universal basic income of $1,000 a month, regardless of income.

Fans who follow the candidate on Twitter and retweet his proposal will automatically be entered in the giveaway.

“I actually have an announcement tonight. I’m going to be giving $1,000 a month to another American family, and all you have to do is retweet the tweet that’s going to go out concurrent with this show… and then follow me,” Yang revealed on the show.

The presidential hopeful said that the winner will be chosen July 4.

Despite never holding public office, Yang has made a name for himself in the crowded Democratic primary field by focusing his campaign on the economic ramifications of automation and artificial intelligence. He is also the only 2020 Democratic candidate to call for more research into geoengineering, a technology that would reverse climate change.

Yang is slated to take the debate stage on Thursday alongside candidates Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, and others.
