Left Building Momentum to Pack Supreme Court

As we step into the swing of our nation's 250th birthday this weekend, there's a lot to celebrate. However, we also need to remember the Founding Fathers weren't perfect. They didn't foresee a lot of what we have to deal with, and while checks and balances are brilliant, there's one glaring oversight there, and the left is once again building toward exploiting it.

They're talking about packing the Court again.

The Constitution doesn't specify how many justices should make up the Court, instead allowing Congress to decide. I guess they figured that there wouldn't be any problems there, but the Democratic Party isn't exactly full of wise people interested in the rule of law. They're power-hungry monsters who simply want to get away with whatever policies they can come up with.

But while they've talked about this before, it hasn't gone anywhere. That might be about to change if they get half a chance.

The Supreme Court’s recent decisions have prompted some Democrats to call for big changes in the future.

Senate hopeful Graham Platner of Maine is calling for “ending lifetime Supreme Court appointments” as part of his campaign platform.

And just weeks ago, the former and possible future Presidential nominee said this during a virtual discussion with the group, Emerge America.

"This is a moment where there are no bad ideas; a no bad ideas brainstorm is what I’d like to call it. And in that no bad ideas brainstorm we talk about the Electoral College. We talk about the idea of Supreme Court reform, which includes expanding the Supreme Court," Kamala Harris said.

It’s an idea that’s been floated since 1937 and what is often referred to as FDR's “court packing plan.”

Some legal experts are relieved that nearly a hundred years later the calls have not been heeded.

They haven't been heeded because it's a blatantly stupid idea.

What's more, when they still had control of the Court, they didn't care. They're only upset because the balance of power has shifted so significantly that few of their preferred policies can make it through. Yet, while someone like Justice Amy Coney Barrett will cross the line when she feels the Constitution calls for it, the liberal arm of the Court serves as nothing but a rubber stamp for Democratic policies.

If they get the opportunity to pack the Court, the left will immediately seek to get every pro-gun precedent since Miller overturned, reinstitute Roe v. Wade under a new case name, re-review race-based districting, and every other policy debate they've lost before the Supreme Court in the last handful of years.

Of course, what they don't understand is that if they pack the Court, nothing stops the right from doing it the next time they get control. Then again, Democrats always govern like they've been given a thousand year reich as if it were some kind of divine gift that cannot be taken away--just look at Virginia for an example of what that looks like--so they're unlikely to be thinking long term.

Still, a lot of damage can be done in the meantime.

While that's unlikely to happen while Trump is in the Oval Office, the question becomes what happens after he leaves.

Elections shouldn't be about existential survival, but here we are.
