Now Who Is Buying Elections Over Gun Debate?

When gun control supporters talk about anti-gun politicians, they're always people driven by principle. When they talk about pro-gun lawmakers, it's always about them being bought and paid for by the NRA.

It's always been an annoyance of mine. They pretend their spending is good while pro-gun spending is bad, but the truth is, who is trying to buy elections now?

I ask because the notoriously anti-gun Michael Bloomberg is dropping a ton of money to "take on Trump":

Michael R. Bloomberg’s gun control group plans to spend $10 million to help elect Democratic attorneys general this year and in 2026, an investment it says is meant to help protect the rule of law and democracy while President Trump holds the White House.

The group, Everytown for Gun Safety, will back Democratic candidates in 10 competitive states, including Virginia this fall and Arizona, Georgia, Minnesota, Nevada and Wisconsin, among others, next year, according to John Feinblatt, the organization’s president.

The pledged spending by Mr. Bloomberg, the former New York mayor and a Democratic megadonor, is notable because of his apparent reluctance to put his money behind Vice President Kamala Harris last year. He spent months resisting entreaties to donate, though fellow billionaires persuaded him to give $50 million in late October to a nonprofit group supporting her campaign.

Everytown has for years spent money on down-ballot efforts to elect Democratic candidates for state legislatures, particularly in places where gun control measures had a chance of being enacted and where smaller sums of money could have an influence on races.

Mr. Feinblatt said that his group’s push to support attorneys general, which will be called the Everytown Rule of Law Fund, would focus on defending states from actions by the Trump administration more than on serving as an offensive playbook for enacting gun control measures.

Now, let's understand that if he gives an equal amount for each state, that's a million per state. Considering he's not financing the entire campaign himself, that's an awful lot of money, all from a party that tends to decry billionaires at every opportunity.

Of course, it's different when it's their billionaires.

Let's understand, though, if Elon Musk or the NRA is putting a bunch of money in campaigns in key states in some nefarious attempt to buy the election, then just what is Bloomberg doing here?

Again, it's that typical leftist double standard. When they play the political game, it's just principles. When we do the exact same thing, it's evil.

The difference is that Michael Bloomberg and Everytown for Gun Safety want to disarm the American people, making us vulnerable not just to criminals but to tyranny and invasion. That is the real evil in the gun debate.

One side ignores all the evidence showing that criminals get guns despite the laws, cooks the books with so-called research to show something different, and then tries to buy elections with billionaire money while decrying anyone on the other side doing the same, and ultimately exists based on fearmongering and lies.

I used to try to give them the benefit of the doubt in some ways.

I got over it.
