Everytown For Gun Safety Disgustingly Capitalizes on CEO's Murder, Leaves Out Key Point Though

AP Photo/Stefan Jeremiah

Anytime anyone from the gun rights side of things points out how gun control has failed, some anti-gunners will take issue with it. I was attacked a few years back for pointing out how a mass murder in Norway using a bow and arrow could have been prevented via gun ownership. I and others were accused of "shamelessly" exploiting the attack.

But it's different when they do it.

See, a prime example is the recent murder of a healthcare CEO in New York City. It was a brazen crime and, as of this writing, police still don't seem to have all that much to go on.

What we do know, however, is that the gun control group Everytown for Gun Safety didn't waste a whole lot of time popping off on X, formerly Twitter.

Senseless gun violence.

In one of the most gun-controlled cities in the country.

Funny how they left that part out, isn't it?

As of right now, we know nothing about who carried out this murder, what their motivations might have been, or where they got their gun. Statistically, it's likely that the gun was either stolen by the killer or obtained via a black market sale. Both of those are, obviously, illegal. That also didn't factor into Everytown's attempt at using this senseless act to pretend the issue is the availability of firearms for the lawful market.

But, there's something else that they'd rather you not recognize. You see, Thompson reportedly received death threats prior to his trip to New York. He had reason to fear for his life, yet he was unarmed and didn't have an armed bodyguard.

Now, we don't know if Thompson would have carried a firearm if he could have, but we know that New York's gun laws are an absolute mess and have been since the legislature decided to try and change the rules right before they got completely smacked down by Bruen. It's not difficult for someone to look at the headaches involved and decide that no, they're not going to try and find a way to carry a firearm. Especially because New York doesn't have permit reciprocity with anyone, and getting an out-of-state permit in New York City requires multiple trips to the city and sit-down meetings with permitting officials. It's just not reasonable to think many people are going to do that.

So Thompson had no choice but to be disarmed. He might have been fine with that, of course, but he also might well have resented it.

In the end, it doesn't matter, because he's dead, had no chance to defend himself, and Everytown wants law-abiding gun owners to be forced to pay the price. That's just how every gun control group works.

Meanwhile, they're not getting a bunch of hit pieces written about them because so much of the mainstream media agrees with them. That leaves it to me to smack them around a bit, and I relish the opportunity.
