The Worst Reactions to San Bernardino

The attack in San Bernardino on Wednesday was a terrible tragedy. Nobody can say that we should not be doing all in our power to bring about real solutions that prevent this kind of event from ever happening again. Sadly, the debate over those solutions has turned poisonous.

The New York Daily News wasted no time attacking those who dared pray for the victims:

Far-left online dumpster Mother Jones rushed to their defense after the backlash, declaring such a brilliant headline to be “pitch perfect”.

Other gun-control supporters piled on:

Your "thoughts" should be about steps to take to stop this carnage. Your "prayers" should be for forgiveness if you do nothing - again.

Undeterred by the widespread rebuke of their prayer-shaming, the NYDN struck again on Thursday, blaring that the NRA was enabling domestic terrorism. Never let a crisis go to waste, right? What better way to garner wall to wall media coverage than to implicate the left’s favorite punching bag. Katie has already detailed the NYDN’s attempt to lump in the NRA with terrorists. To those who make these despicable claims, your right to defend yourself is really just a masked effort to arm radical Islamists.

This kind of reaction is standard procedure now. President Obama’s response to the Paris terrorist attacks was to point his finger across the political aisle and declare that Republicans, his fellow citizens, were actually helping ISIS recruit more fighters. No change in strategy. No call to unite the country. And while the American people strongly reject his refugee plan, the President directs his party and his liberal allies in the media to ignore the real enemy of the American people. Our President took the moment to accuse fellow law-abiding citizens of aiding the murderous caliphate that has prospered under his leadership, or lack thereof.
