Appeals Court OKs National Guard in Illinois, Says They Can't Be Deployed

An Appeals Court has allowed President Donald Trump to give control of the National Guard but blocked him from deploying them on federal ground.

The Saturday ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit responded to a lawsuit filed by the state of Illinois and the city of Chicago after Trump sent troops to reduce violent crime around Chicago.

“IT IS ORDERED that appellants’ request for an administrative stay is GRANTED as to the federalization of the National Guard and DENIED as to the deployment of the National Guard. Pending a decision on the request for a stay pending appeal, the district court’s October 9, 2025, order is temporarily STAYED only to the extent it enjoined the federalization of the National Guard of the United States within Illinois. Members of the National Guard do not need to return to their home states unless further ordered by a court to do so.”

In an interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos, J.D. Vance ripped Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker for violence in Chicago.

Pritzker "is the governor of a state where its biggest city has murder rates that rival the most violent places in the Third World," Vance said. Why is he so mad at Donald Trump for trying to keep Chicagoans safe? He should be mad at the criminals that he has failed to keep at bay."

Pritzker insists that Chicago doesn't need the federal government's help to stop violent crime. Chicago is a sanctuary city, meaning that it won't comply with the federal government's immigration laws.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has ordered city officials not to help the federal government deport illegal immigrants in the state's largest city.

Trump has sent troops to Washington D.C., Memphis, Tennessee, and Portland, Oregon to reduce violent crime and secure immigration facilities. Last month, a man shot up an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement facility in Dallas and killed two detainees. In Portland and Chicago, protesters have attacked federal officials who are deporting illegal immigrants.

Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
