Harris Claims 2024 Was a Tight Race— She Lost the Popular Vote by 2 Million

Former presidential candidate Kamala Harris lied about the margins by which she lost the 2024 presidential election against President Donald Trump while on The View to discuss her new book.

Reporter Collin Rugg posted on X:

"NEW: Kamala Harris appears to think she almost beat President Trump in the 2024 election, says it was the "closest presidential race in the 21st century."

"It's important to me that when history is written, that my voice be present."

Harris lost the Electoral College 312-226 and lost the popular vote by over 2 million votes.”

A panelist asked Harris why she lost. Harris responded that she didn't have enough time to beat Trump.

“There are many factors I think that played into that election. I think, one of the biggest, in my mind, is that we just didn’t have enough time.”

“One of the reasons I wrote this book: this is unprecedented. Think about it. There’s a a race for president of the United States. The current sitting president is running for reelection. Three-and-a-half months from the election, he decides not to run. The sutting vice president then takes the mantle running against a former president of the United States who had been running for 10 years, with 107 days until the election.”

“And by the way, another piece of what is unprecedented and a bit historical, about that race. It is the closest presidential race in the 21st century in terms of the outcome.”

“History will talk about this race. It is part of American history, and it was improtant to me that when history is written, that my voice be present.”

The closest presidential race in the 21st century was in 2000 when Al Gore face George W. Bush, according to the American Presidency Project

Bush won the electoral college vote 271-266. Bush beat Gore by just over 547,000 votes for the popular vote. In comparison, Harris lost the popular vote by nearly four times that margin, by 2 million votes.

The project is managed by UC Santa Barbara.

Harris repeats the wrong claim in another video, apparently filmed near Howard University in Washington D.C.

Harris promoted her book in which she blames everyone but herself for the 2024 election loss. Harris blamed her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. Harris said that she wanted to pick former U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttgieg, but that she didn't want a running mate who was gay.

Former CNN journalist Chris Cillizza said that Harris isn't a good candidate, he posted on X.
