Left-wing comedian Jim Gaffigan took surprising digs at Vice President Kamala Harris after she skipped the 79th Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner honoring Catholic charities.

The dinner, known for hosting and roasting the presidential candidates, looks different this year after Harris refused to attend. Instead, she sent in a pre-recorded message. Gaffigan pointed out that Harris’ absence was a “layup for the Democratic nominee.”

I’m sorry, why is Vice President Harris not here?” Gaffigan asked. “I mean, consider this. … This is a room full of Catholics and Jews in New York City.” He predicted Catholics as a “key demographic in every battleground state.” Yet, Harris, who was too “busy” campaigning in battleground states to attend the dinner, was the same as saying she was too “busy” to participate in a Catholic charity event.

Gaffigan pointed out that Harris could find the time to appear on Hollywood elitist shows and woke podcasts.

“I mean, in her defense, I mean, she did find time to appear on "The View," Howard Stern, Colbert, and the long-time staple of campaigning, the "Call Her Daddy" podcast. You know what I think it is? I think she doesn't like me,” he continued.

Harris was the first presidential candidate not to attend the dinner in 40 years.

According to a recent National Catholic Reporter poll, 50 percent of Catholic voters view former President Donald Trump more favorably than they do Harris.

Gaffigan also joked about the Democratic Party ousting President Joe Biden, saying Harris’s “dreams have come true."

The Democrats have been telling us Trump, Trump's reelection is a threat to democracy. In fact, they were so concerned of this threat, they staged a coup. Ousted their democratically elected incumbent, and installed Kamala Harris," Gaffigan said. “President Biden could not be here tonight — the DNC made sure of that.”
