Major Liberal City Faces Worst Year Ever of Overdose Deaths

Major Liberal City Faces Worst Year Ever of Overdose Deaths

Amid destructive liberal policies that have ramped up rapid crime and homelessness, San Francisco is on track to hit a dire milestone by the end of the year.

Democrat-run San Francisco is expected to have more fatal overdoses in 2023 than any on record, thanks to the uptick of fentanyl in the United State’s illicit drug supply that is being expedited over the southern border.

According to new data reported by the city’s medical examiner, August was the deadliest month on record – with an overdose death every nine hours. There has been a 25 percent increase over the last year, which one addiction specialist called “crazy and unfortunate.”

Dr Daniel Ciccarone, a University of California, San Francisco professor, said he had expected the issue to burn out slowly. However, he admitted the problem “is unbelievably resilient and horribly durable.”

Due to President Joe Biden’s radical open border policies, deadly cartels are smuggling fentanyl—an opioid about 50 times stronger than heroin— and other dangerous drugs into the U.S. At the same time, far-Left politicians sit back and do nothing to stop it.

There were 692 accidental overdose deaths from January to October of this year, with 65 occurring in October. The new data shows that the city could exceed its milestone from 2020 when a total of 726 overdose deaths occurred.

“California has now surpassed the national average, and it’s becoming the single most important place for overdose intervention in terms of sheer numbers,” said Joseph Friedman, an addiction researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Not only is it overdose plaguing the liberal city, looting, gang violence, car-jackings, murder, rape, and hate crimes have made once-beautiful San Francisco now one of the worst places to visit.

This is what a Democrat city looks like. Remember this when it comes time to vote at the ballot box.
