If the Republican Party takes back the House in the November midterm elections, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) might be on the chopping block.

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) vowed to hold the ousted former governor responsible for the thousands of nursing home deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"When Republicans earn back the House, I will lead the charge for the federal investigation of Corrupt Andrew Cuomo's nursing home order that resulted in thousands of deaths on behalf of the victims and their families," Stefanik said in a statement.

Speaking outside of a nursing home in Rensselaer County earlier this week, Stefanik said that she will bring Cuomo in front of Congress to explain why so many people died in nursing homes under his watch.

"We will not hesitate to follow the facts wherever they lead and uncover the important data, the decision-making process, and the absolute corruption," Stefanik said.

Stefanik said House Republicans have repeatedly requested Cuomo to testify, yet he refuses. However, a GOP-controlled House would be able to subpoena him, forcing him to testify.

"The subpoenas are coming," Stefanik promised.

Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY), who took over Cuomo's position when he was forced to resign, claimed that she would investigate all decisions made by state officials during the pandemic to create a blueprint for future governors.

However, Stefanik is not convinced that the job will be done correctly.

"It is not a real investigation… if it were a real investigation, they would be subpoenaing Gov. Cuomo. They would be turning over the data," Stefanik said.
