NRCC Outraises DCCC in January

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) announced a positive fundraising haul this morning, per Politico. The committee raised 12.6 million in last month, which marks the largest fundraising January to date for the committee. January was also the first time that the NRCC out-raised their counterparts at the DCCC in months; the Democratic operation raised 12.1 in January.

This fundraising haul is a much needed morale boost for the NRCC, which has struggled to keep up with Democratic fundraising thus far during this cycle. The GOP operation has just over 28 million cash on hand going into the 2020 election, with plenty of time left to fundraise. The DCCC has 43 million cash on hand.

The GOP's fundraising haul was apparently surprising to the NRCC's Democratic counterparts, per a DCCC spokesperson, whose tweet did not age well:

Democrats still have the edge for November on RealClearPolitics's Generic Congressional Ballot by 6 percentage points. FiveThirtyEight also gives Democrats the advantage for winning the House, but November is a long ways away, and Speaker Pelosi's recent behavior is nothing short of an asset to the GOP's fundraising efforts.
