This Is Why I Oppose 'Trans Women' in My Bathroom

I don't consider myself a feminist by any stretch of the imagination. Feminism has done more to harm women and make life difficult for the men I love than it's done any good. At least the late-stage waves of feminism. That being said, I guess I do consider myself a so-called "TERF"—a "trans-exclusionary radical feminist"—if being a TERF means I have zero tolerance for stuff like this.

I'll warn you, this video is disturbing to watch, not because it contains blood or violence or even particularly foul language. Instead, it's almost nine minutes that encapsulate the full-blown mental health crisis the trans activist crowd has inflicted on this country.

In some ways, I feel tremendously sorry for the man in the video. He's clearly unwell. Neither of which will be adequately addressed in this current political and social climate, if at all. He's been coddled for years by the people around him who have tried to 'affirm' his gender, but the reality is this: he's a man. He was born a man, and he'll die a man. I refuse to partake in that denial of reality.

However, there are several things that stand out to me in this video. First, this man doesn't even make an effort to look like a woman, save for the blue wig and the pink shoes. I doubt he's had any sort of surgery, and he's probably not on wrong-sex hormones, either. Second, he does not like being told no. I have no idea what precipitated this interaction with the police, but his behavior throughout shows he has minimal self-control and some serious anger-management issues. He repeatedly stomps his feet—something my boys stopped doing when they were toddlers—and screams his pronouns when the officer correctly points out that he's, well, a he. Third, it takes two officers to subdue and cuff this man after a rather long altercation. Sure, he's probably running on adrenaline, and that can make someone strong.

But my point is this: I'm supposed to let this man into my bathroom? Into my locker room?

For many 'trans women,' autogynephilia is a thing. They are literally sexually aroused at the thought of being a female, and many of them harbor deep misogynistic tendencies towards actual women. That's especially true of lesbians, who many of these "trans women" abuse for refusing to date them, insisting their "girl dick" should be acceptable. These men have actually invaded lesbian-only dating apps, and called those lesbians who objected "transphobes," often getting those lesbians kicked off their own platform. If you spend any time looking at 'trans' subreddits, you'll find those are all common themes. They get a sexual thrill when someone refers to them as female, and they get a sense of power and control when they abuse actual women. The former might be part of why this guy was screaming at the officer to refer to him as "she" so adamantly.

The latter? Well, imagine what this guy would do if he went into your bathroom and you, as a woman uncomfortable in his presence, told him to leave. The same anger, the same rush of adrenaline that made him strong enough to resist two male officers would be unleashed on you in a room full of ceramic fixtures, hard walls, and usually only one way out. I'm hardly a pixie, but I would lose that fight and likely be seriously hurt, if not killed, in the process.

And that's why I—and countless other women—object to the trans activist crowd's insistence that these men access our bathrooms, locker rooms, maternity wards, lactation groups, and rape crisis centers in the name of equality. It makes us fundamentally less safe, and we have the video to prove it.
