Wait, There Was a Finger Fight During This WNBA Game?

I don’t watch the WNBA — it’s not my thing, but I know they have some talented players. Caitlin Clark should be the face of a league that’s struggling to stay relevant. They have a player who could be that star to grow their market share, but they won’t pursue it for political reasons. Anyway, despite being virtually unwatchable, and even some of my very liberal family members agree, that doesn’t mean there aren’t entertaining moments, and this ‘finger fight’ was pretty damn hilarious.

During a heated game between the Indiana Fever and the Phoenix Mercury, Indiana guard Sophie Cunningham got into it with Phoenix’s DeWanna Bonner, leading to a finger fight that even had the security guards laughing. Also, apparently, everyone received technical fouls, including Clark for clapping (via ESPN):

Caitlin Clark had 24 points and nine assists and Kelsey Mitchell scored 22 points as the Indiana Fever overcame a 13-point first-quarter deficit to beat the Phoenix Mercury 86-77 on Monday night.

The Fever held off a late charge in a chippy fourth that saw six technical fouls handed out between the teams. Myisha Hines-Allen was ejected after picking up her second technical foul, and Clark got her fifth of the season. Players receive a one-game automatic suspension after their eighth.

Clark and Mercury forward DeWanna Bonner exchanged words after Clark fouled Bonner early in the fourth quarter. Clark clapped her hands after the whistle and was called for the technical, which she called "ridiculous."

"We should all just go on the calendar now and pick a game that I'm gonna be suspended for if I'm gonna get technicals for clapping," she said.

But Cunningham’s trolling was pretty top-tier. I’m not planning to watch the WNBA any time soon, but these clips were funny.
