Lefties No Longer Trying to Hide How They Want You Disarmed

Anti-gun leftists will often claim they support the Second Amendment. Yet that part of their statement is always followed by the word "but" and something pretty stupid that ignores the whole "shall not be infringed" thing.

Yet more and more are starting to be open about how they want you to be completely disarmed, even if they can't get actual gun control passed.

See, there's more than one way to try and disarm a population. One is to ban guns completely, obviously, but another is to attack the firearm industry itself. This is why lawfare against gun manufacturers has been such a massive part of the left's playbook. Yeah, the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act was passed, but they're trying to find ways around it.

And one writer seems to think we should just kill the entire industry.

The shooting deaths of teen perpetrators and adult victims at the Islamic Center of San Diego, California, recently are horrific. This horror, part of the 121 gun deaths (homicides and suicides) in the U.S. daily, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2024, demands drastic measures. In brief, now is the time to call for an immediate ban on the production of guns stateside.

Decisive action to prevent the chronic problem of firearm deaths in the U.S. is long overdue. How? The answer seems plain as day: ending the for-profit production of guns.

Gun control, while I support it, does not address the root of this problem. Gun production is where the focus belongs, economically and politically. There is no market with politics.

This “hidden abode of production” that Karl Marx writes of in Capital, Volume 1, is the location of making guns, a deadly commodity. Politics is the grease that makes the market move, extracting and exploiting humans and Nature.

Pro-tip: If you quote Karl Marx while trying to make a political point, it's a sign that you're someone who shouldn't be taken seriously on any topic more advanced than how to tie your shoes properly...and I suspect this guy has to rely on velcro.

Moving on...

Ending the scourge of gun deaths is a left-center-right, or working class, issue. Why? The working class is centrally involved as perpetrators and victims, with an estimated 383,000 employees involved in the firearm industry, from the factory floor to the gun store (direct, supplier and induced), according to the The Firearm Industry Trade Association figures for 2025.

Taxpayers can compensate the 383,000 employees in the firearm industry, earning $89,000 (salaries and benefits) annually, for a total payout of $34 billion. Before you recoil in outrage, recall that President Obama gave $290 billion to bail out the bankers that caused the housing crash and Great Recession (Troubled Asset Relief Program). The TARP bailout is nearly nine times the dollar amount of a firearm industry employee payout.

First, the National Shooting Sports Foundation is the industry trade association, as there is no "The Firearms Trade Association," but then again, this twit quotes Marx unironically, so what should we expect?

And killing hundreds of thousands of jobs is a lot different than bailing out banks--something I am still against, by the way--especially when this moron is looking at the costs for a single year's salary rather than the lifetime earnings for those employees.

The basic premise here is that you can shut down the gun manufacturers and retailers, pay them a bit of money, and then no one can buy firearms anymore. Over time, I suppose, natural attrition would eliminate many of the guns in private hands, and the leftist Utopia can come to pass, in part because no one will be able to stand against them when they take power.

These are the same people who swear Republicans are fascists and that Trump wants to be a dictator.

Do you know what's a handy way to restrict a tyrannical government run by a self-appointed dictator like the left is so worried about these days? The things they keep trying to take away or make impossible for anyone to buy.

Hell, even Karl Marx knew better.
