In 1996, Australia enacted some of the world's strictest gun laws. In a mandatory "buy back" and confiscation, hundreds of thousands of firearms were taken from Aussie citizens. Less than two decades later, the Australian government was rounding up the unvaccinated and COVID-infected and putting them into concentration camps.
Gun laws in the Land Down Under are so strict that toy guns require licensing.
In 2010 I wrote about how Australia's gun control was so insane they required licenses for TOY guns:https://t.co/FQUAoleikM

It's a Leftist's gun-control dream come true. And it doesn't prevent anything.
On Sunday, two Islamic terrorists opened fire on Jews at Bondi Beach in Sydney, killing at least 15 and wounding 40 others. That terrorist attack followed one in D.C. before Thanksgiving, where two National Guardsmen were shot, one of them — Sarah Beckstrom — was killed. In Rhode Island, an unknown assailant shot and killed two students in a classroom.
The Left's reaction to all of this has not been to blame the scourge of radical Islam or the inflammatory, antisemitic, anti-Trump rhetoric of the Democratic Party. They've once again taken a swing at their most prized political goal: gun control. Even Australia has decided the solution to Islamic monsters killing Jewish children and Holocaust survivors on one of its beaches is to take more guns away from innocent Australians.

One of the Australian terrorists, Naveed Akram from Pakistan, was already on the authorities' radar for radical Islamist ties. How did someone setting off red flags gain access to guns, if not illegally? If he obtained them legally, it shows that the Australian system failed.
How does a 24-year old Muslim male who is known to the government for being affiliated with ISIS get to possess not one, but SIX firearms, in a country where guns are essentially banned?

But I digress.
In America, Democrats respond to every mass shooting with the same mentality. Brown University is just the latest example.
The deadly shooting at Brown University is horrific. Students should be able to learn in peace, not fear gun violence. My heart goes out to the victims, their loved ones, and the entire Providence community.

Rhode Island has some of the nation's strictest gun laws. The Brown University campus is a gun-free zone. They both have Australia-style gun laws, which — just like the original ones — failed.
Horrific mass shooting at Brown. Thinking of the victims and their families.

We simply do not have to live this way.
The failure to pass gun safety legislation is a moral stain & innocent Americans pay the price time and again.
Disarmed Americans pay the price thanks to Democratic Party gun-control laws, yes.
Ilhan Omar went one step further and used the shooting in Australia to advocate for an undermining of our Second Amendment.

Australia already has some of the world’s most restrictive gun laws
Those laws didn’t prevent today’s shooting
They just left the (unarmed) victims completely defenseless
This couldn’t be more tone deaf pic.twitter.com/C9ACHSNmAh
This isn't tone deaf. It's intentional. A disarmed populace is precisely what the Left wants.
As Dana Loesch pointed out, defensive gun uses dwarf criminal gun usage, rendering the Left's concerns about gun crime moot.
You always conveniently omit how defensive gun use dwarfs criminal usage, and how these numbers would look wildly different if we catalogued violent crime in the same manner as the UK. So deceptive, as usual. https://t.co/sQ25rt2ukF

That statistic is anathema to the gun grabbers, of course.
They want to disarm innocent Americans like me, even though my guns have hurt no one. What my guns do, however, is give me — a single mother with three boys — the peace of mind that if someone were to try to harm us, we'd be protected. Imagine if people on Bondi Beach or in a Brown University classroom had been given the choice to carry a gun. While it's not a guarantee that they would've stopped the killers, it would have given them a fighting chance.
They don't want us to fight back because leaving us at the mercy of criminals, criminals who are arrested and released countless times, gives Democrats the political power and chaos they thrive on.
Australia proves gun control doesn't work, and the tighter they try to crack down on guns, the more violence they'll get. Thankfully, in America at least, we see the disastrous outcomes of gun control and refuse to bend the knee to the tyrants who would disarm us.
