Thanks to Leftists, Perhaps Women Do Have Fewer Rights Today

The day after the 2024 election, "The View" co-host Sunny Hostin went on television and told the audience, " I worry about my children’s future, especially my daughter, who now has less rights than I have.”

That is, of course, demonstrably false. Hostin is undoubtedly referring to abortion -- which is not a right and, in New York state where Hostin lives, still legal.

But perhaps there's a slight grain of truth to the assertion that women like Hostin's daughter have fewer rights than women of other generations. Sunny Hostin, for example grew up in a world where women could tell men who were in their bathrooms to get out.

Her daughter, and countless other girls, enjoy no such luxury.

In Arlington, VA, registered sex offender Richard Cox claims he's a woman. For years, Cox (what an unfortunate surname) has terrorized women and girls in locker rooms by showing up and exposing himself to them.

Minock reports:

A dozen witnesses testified in the preliminary hearing for the Cox case, including women who said they saw him naked in the women’s locker rooms in Arlington County‘s Wakefield High School, Washington Liberty High School, and Barcroft Sports and Fitness Center.

One witness said when she and her five-year-old daughter went into the girls' locker room after swim class, Cox – who identifies as a woman but is still physically male -- was standing naked in a shower stall with the curtai open, touching himself.

On another occasion, a woman and her five and six-year-old daughters were at Barcroft Sports and Fitness Center for a gymnastics class, and when they went into the girls' locker room, Cox was in there naked.

Arlington County and Arlington Public Schools allow people to use locker rooms and bathrooms of their choice based on their chosen gender identity, and they allowed Cox to use the women’s locker rooms.

A 17-year-old lifeguard who worked at one of the Arlington pools said she witnessed Cox naked in a school locker room, as did other women who testified.

Minock also noted Cox "had Fairfax County rec center CHILDREN’S swim class schedules ON HIS PHONE, so he knew WHEN KIDS would be at the rec centers he visited."

In California, a woman was horrified to visit Femina Physical Therapy, a place that focuses on women's pelvic health, and find her therapist was a "trans identifying man."

The post reads:

She had no warning a man was going to be the one sent in to touch her female organ. She was so disturbed by his misrepresentations that it was a barrier to her accessing this care.  Now she's not only afraid to go back, she's afraid of retaliation if she asks for this intimate female care from an actual female human. Meanwhile his bio shows he's not concerned how his behavior will impact women.

Such therapy requires very intimate examinations, and any woman seeking such care should be able to ask for a woman to provide those services. But in Gavin Newsom's so-called "free state of California" this woman not only couldn't receive treatment, she had to complain anonymously for fear of retaliation.

These are just two stories of women and girls forced to sacrifice their comfort, safety, and health on the altar of trans ideology.

Why don't women and girls in Fairfax County have the right to single-sex bathrooms free from registered sex offenders who are clearly and intentionally targeting them? Why don't women in California have the right to access intimate healthcare without fearing retaliation from a dishonest male caregiver?

Because of women like Sunny Hostin and the Democratic Party she so enthusiastically supports.

So, yes. Perhaps women and girls today do have fewer rights than their mothers and grandmothers. Just not in the way Sunny Hostin imagines.
