Some Adult Entertainment Got Hurled Onto the Court During a WNBA Game...Literally

The WNBA is getting attention for all the wrong reasons right now. No, it’s not because all the players hate Caitlin Clark or foul her hard—we have fans throwing certain objects onto the court. It’s adult entertainment, but an arrest has been made in the fallout of this incident, made worse by Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham’s viral tweet about the incident.

On two separate occasions, there’s been a green sex toy thrown onto the court. It’s prompted a swift response from the league, which says anyone caught doing this will be subject to ejection from the game and a one-year ban (via NY Post):

The WNBA said on Saturday that the fan who threw a sex toy on the court during a Dream game earlier this week was arrested. 

The league also added that any person who throws objects on the court will be ejected from the corresponding arena and face a minimum ban of one year. 

During the fourth quarter of the Dream’s 77-75 home loss to the Valkyries on Tuesday, a fan threw what appeared to be a lime green sex toy onto the court which caused a stoppage in play. 

An official kicked the NSFW object off the court before it was removed by a police officer. 

“The safety and well-being of everyone in our arenas is a top priority for our league. Objects of any kind thrown onto the court or in the seating area can pose a safety risk for players, game officials, and fans,” the league said in a statement. “In line with WNBA Arena Security Standards, any fan who intentionally throws an object onto the court will be immediately ejected and face a minimum one-year ban in addition to being subject to arrest and prosecution by local authorities.” 

A similar incident also occurred during Friday’s game between the Valkyries and Sky, this time with the identical-looking object being tossed onto the court during the third quarter. 

It’s unknown if the fan who threw the object during the Sky game was arrested.
