It’s not just conservatives who are demanding more information be released about the Jeffrey Epstein files after the Justice Department issued a memo last week stating there’s no client list, he didn’t blackmail powerful figures, and he wasn’t murdered. As Jeff reported, suddenly Democrats who were largely silent on the issue during the Biden administration are beginning to demand answers. But one post from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is drawing attention for another reason.
“Wow who would have thought that electing a rapist would have complicated the release of the Epstein Files?” the New York Democrat posted on X.
As many reminded her, ABC’s George Stephanopoulos learned this lesson the hard way.

I know you said “no tax on tips.”
But please sue @AOC for her tip money. https://t.co/t8bBILQVdg
George Stephanopoulos might advise you to take down this tweet. https://t.co/NfmmRvNWUh pic.twitter.com/aKhzDw2ypF

I realize she’s trying to raise her profile but this is way way too far https://t.co/AdANhGbkPn
I practice defamation law. The “Speech or Debate” clause (Article I, Section 6) protects Congressmen from legal actions for things said on the House floor or Committee - NOT social media posts. This is textbook defamation. She can be sued for it. It’s not a (protected) opinion. https://t.co/xKW98GjGjv
