LA City Council Member Makes Absurd Demand of Police Chief. Here's How He Responded.

Los Angeles has been rocked by violent, anti-ICE riots since Friday with no signs of the situation letting up, all because federal law enforcement officers were enforcing federal immigration law in the area. As the Department of Homeland Security highlighted, this has been the response from leftists simply because law enforcement officers made the streets of Los Angeles safer for Americans, removing illegal aliens with previous criminal convictions for sex with minors, narcotics violations, assault with a deadly weapon, grand theft, child endangerment, domestic battery, hit and run, and more. But LA City Council members can’t stand any cooperation between the LAPD and the feds on this front and made that very clear Tuesday when Police Chief Jim McDonnell appeared before them to discuss the department’s efforts to control the riots.

In what the LA Times is describing as the “testiest exchange” from the meeting, Councilmember Imelda Padilla wanted to know if McDonnell would warn the council about potential upcoming enforcement operations.

Fortunately, McDonnell shut Padilla down immediately.

“You’re asking me to warn you about an enforcement action being taken by another agency before it happens? We can’t do that,” McDonnell replied, noting that doing so would be considered obstruction of justice. “That would be completely inappropriate and illegal.”

City Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson bristled at the notion of calling ICE a “law enforcement partner.”

“If we know somebody is coming here to do warrant-less abductions of the residents of this city, those are not our partners,” he said. “I don’t care what badge they have on or whose orders they’re under. They’re not our partners.”

We'll just leave these right here for those council members...
