Hegseth Just Got a Letter From the IRS...

The weaponization of the IRS is nothing new. In the 1930s, Franklin Delano Roosevelt used the agency as a means of attacking his political foes, while in the Obama era, the agency targeted conservative political groups. More recently in 2023, journalist Matt Taibbi was paid a visit by IRS agents on the same day he was set to testify before Congress about government censorship—a move that came after the IRS opened a case on him following his Twitter Files expose. The motives behind such actions are easy to see and unfortunately continue to this day. Just ask Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

On X, he shared a photo of a letter he and his wife received from the IRS.

According to the document, the couple owes $33,558.16 to the government, which needs to be paid in full to avoid further penalties.

“Of course the outgoing Biden IRS rushed an 'audit' of the incoming SecDef," he said. "Total sham. The party of 'norms' and 'decency' strikes again. We will never back down.”

Others agreed, the timing is suspect.
