Jeff touched on this yesterday, but it’s hilarious all the same: Kamala Harris’ political career might be over. She joins a long list of politicians who thought they were made of presidential timber, only for Donald Trump to chop them down. There are more Republican casualties, with Trump taking out everyone in a loaded 2016 field. Some have never recovered, while others are likely never to run again. People forget what a brutal Republican primary that was, but Harris’ announcement comes with a healthy helping of humiliation for a simple reason.
You were a US Senator who represented California, and you’ve learned that they wouldn’t elect you again. That’s brutal. Even worse is the fact that any Democrat who can’t be elected in this state, with its quasi-single-party rule dynamics, should truly call it a career and do something else:
Harris posted a statement on social media saying she had “given serious thought to asking the people of California for the privilege to serve as their Governor.”
“I love this state, its people, and its promise. It is my home. But after deep reflection, I’ve decided that I will not run for Governor in this election,” she wrote.
Losing the 2024 election truly exposed Harris, who was never qualified to hold the office of president of the United States. The cackle, but more so the gross inability for her to comprehend and grasp the issues. All the reports about her were true, and the most damning, being that she hates being forced into making tough decisions, is the actual killer. You can’t run for executive office if that’s your demeanor. If she were president, Tehran would have acquired nuclear weapons.
It's brutal that this woman, who handily won her Senate seat with 61 percent of the vote in 2016, though she was running against another Democrat, Loretta Sanchez, has fallen so much that people don’t want her to be governor. In deep-blue, unhinged as all hell California, even those progressives are saying, “hard pass” on a Harris governorship.
Brutal.
