Ocasio-Cortez Tried To Slam A GOP Senator For Quoting Mussolini And Totally Wrecked Herself

Well, if there’s one thing you can’t say about Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is that she’s not a fighter, even if she does crash into a wall. The New York liberal has set the new cycle ablaze with her ruinously expensive Green New Deal, which American Action Forum said would carry a $93 trillion price tag. Most of the 2020 Democratic field has signed off on it, as candidates are battling to nab the majority slice of the progressive wing of the party. She’s gone on to say that having kids isn’t good because of climate change. It’s all in keeping with this movement’s ethos of a brutal authoritarian intrusion into the home. The war cry of ‘government knows best’ cannot succeed unless all aspects of society are broken toward the will of the state. When folks have criticized her shoddy proposal, she challenged them to think of an alternative. That’s fair but then said until then she’s “the boss” or something

And now, she’s picking fights with top Senate Republicans, like Sen. John Cornyn for quoting Mussolini in the wake of the Democrats’ lurch to the left (via The Hill):

Ocasio-Cortez criticized the former Senate GOP whip for linking fascism to socialism with the tweet, saying it was part and parcel for a party that she said called paying a living wage "socialism."

"In case you missed it, while the GOP is calling paying a living wage 'socialism,' a Republican Senator full-on quoted National Fascist Party leader and Hitler ally Benito Mussolini like it’s a Hallmark card," the first-year lawmaker tweeted.

Cornyn's tweet provoked some head-scratching online, but he responded that one reader had correctly interpreted the tweet as a warning against an overly powerful central government.

On Monday, Coryn added further context, noting that the quote appeared in Austrian political philosopher Friedrich Hayek's book "The Road to Serfdom."

Hayek's 1944 book is a criticism of state-run planned economies, and he argues that those systems inevitably devolve into tyranny and fascism.

I mean, seriously, AOC, you thought Cornyn was a follower of Mussolini? Stop whatever drugs you’re doing and get a grip. The best part about this is the responses to her tweet, with many noting Cornyn was merely warning us about left-wing authoritarianism. So, AOC crashed and burned again. Now, let’s go back to attacking her policies, which can easily be used to brand Democrats next year. It’s economic freedom vs. slavery. Okay—maybe not that far, but a certainly a mold of liberalism with a very condescending and authoritarian streak. Ha! Yeah, I know—sounds like a day that ends in “y,” right? She hasn’t deleted the response tweet, by the way.
