Trump Tax Bill Brutally Tortures Wire Company Into Doling Out $9 Million In Bonuses To Workers

Trump’s tax bill continues to brutalize businesses and workers. The Georgia-based Southwire has announced that they will be distributing some $9 million to bonuses and benefits thanks to the legislation. Full-time employees will earn $1,000, while part-time workers are set to receive $250. The company’s parental leave policy will also be expanded (via Atlanta Business Chronicle):

Carrollton, Ga.-based Southwire Co. said full-time employees in the United States, not including executives and upper management, will each receive a $1,000 bonus and full-time employees outside of the U.S. will receive an equivalent supplement. Part-time employees will get $250 bonuses or an international equivalent. The majority of Southwire’s nearly 7,500 employees will receive payments, the company said.

Southwire said it will also expand its parental leave policy. In addition, it will also offer a bridge scholarship program for eligible hourly employees seeking to further their education through a two-year degree, four-year degree or technical certification.

“We’re off to a good start in 2018, and I am pleased to be able to share this benefit, both monetarily and through the extension of new and existing programs and partnerships, with the Southwire family,” said Rich Stinson, Southwire’s president and CEO, in a statement. Since Trump’s tax bill has passed, which was met with universal Democratic opposition, over 250 companies have doled out bonuses, increased wages, expanded benefits, and increased philanthropic giving. Over three million workers have received a bonus of at least $1,000 or more; some have seen checks close to $3,000. And yet, Democrats, who voted against middle and working class families because they hate the president—are calling these bonuses crumbs. Oh, and now this bill is unpatriotic because a Republican Congress got something right on the economy.   It’s getting pathetic.
