Two Jordanian Nationals Tried to Breach a U.S. Military Base in Possible ISIS or Al-Qaeda 'Dry Run’

Earlier this year, Townhall reported how  Texas Republican Rep. Chip Roy shared how the Biden administration has incentivized criminals to cross the southern border and come into the United States.

“Since the beginning of the fiscal year 2021, 331 known or suspected terrorists have been caught crossing the southern border,” Roy said. “The fact is, there is an increasing number of known individuals affiliated with dangerous groups across this world that are flooding into the United States because this administration refuses to carry out its constitutional duty to maintain operational control of the border.”

Earlier this month, two Jordanians who may have been doing a “dry run for Al-Qaeda of ISIS” were arrested after they allegedly tried to ram their way onto Quantico Marine Corps Base in Virginia.

“On May 3, 2024, Marine Corps Base Quantico’s Criminal Investigations Division arrested two Jordanian noncitizens for trespassing,” ICE Washington spokesperson James Covington told the New York Post.

“Deportation officers from Enforcement and Removal Operations’ [ERO] Criminal Apprehension Program responded and arrested both individuals without incident.”

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed to The Post that both Jordanian nationals are in custody.

Reportedly, the two men drove a truck up to the base’s main gate and told the guards they were contractors for Amazon and were making deliveries to Quantico Town’s post office. The men did not provide any access credentials.

“When asked, the operator of the truck informed the military police officers they worked for a company subcontracted by Amazon and were making a delivery to the US Post Office located in the Town of Quantico,” Capt. Michael Curtis, a spokesman for the base, told the Post.

Officers at the gate directed the vehicle to a holding area to be vetted.

“It was at that time, one of the military police officers noticed the driver ignoring the direct instructions of the officers, continued to move the vehicle past the holding area and attempted to access Marine Corps Base Quantico,” Curtis said.

“Due to the swift response and execution of their duties, the officers were able to deploy the vehicle denial barriers, prevent any further access to Marine Corps Base Quantico, and detain the individuals who were eventually turned over to ICE custody.

Potomac Local News reported, “Multiple sources report one of the individuals inside the truck is a Jordanian foreign national who recently crossed the southern border into the U.S., and that one of the occupants is on the U.S. terrorist watch list.”

Quantico did not confirm if the two individuals were on the terrorist watch list.

Robert O’Neill, a former Navy SEAL, told the Post that the encounter showed signed of being a “dry run” for a terrorist organization to “see how far they can get a truck into the base.”

“It looks like it was a test run for something else like truck bombs because they tried to get in saying they were delivery drivers then sped up as the barricades popped up,” he added. “The [Jordanians] are lucky they weren’t shot.”
