One House Dem Is Calling Out His Party's Focus on Abrego Garcia

As Guy reported Wednesday, some in the Democratic Party truly believe defending an accused wife beater and MS-13 member after the Trump administration deported him to his home country ought to be their “top agenda.”

"People say, 'Well, should we really fight on this turf or should we fight more on ordinary people?'” strategist James Carville said. “And this we should fight on — you can't pivot to an economic issue."

That belief appears to be widely supported on the left based on the Democrats heading to El Salvador to do something to bring this illegal immigrant “Maryland man” back to the U.S.

But not every Democrat agrees. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) pointed out the inconsistency of Democrats talking more about border security while at the same time demanding Kilmar Abrego Garcias’s return.

“We’ve been talking about strong border security for so many years, and now, you know, there are Democrats who are talking about the border,” Cuellar said Wednesday on NewsNation’s “On Balance with Leland Vittert.”

“But, with all due respect, when you’re talking about bringing somebody — and I know there were due process questions — that was in Maryland, and now El Salvador, I don’t know if that’s the right issue that Democrats should be focusing on right now,” he added.

Cuellar said the party should focus on issues constituents care about, like border security, cost of living, tariffs, the stock market, and more.

“Those are the things that people want to talk about in my district,” Cuellar said, noting that rarely does someone in his district ask about “that case of that person from Maryland, because they want to talk about other things.”

Cuellar is among the more than two dozen vulnerable House Democrats the NRCC is targeting to expand the GOP's House majority.
