Hochul Got Something Wrong in Her Vow to Fight Trump on Congestion Pricing

President Trump knows how unpopular Gov. Kathy Hochul’s congestion pricing plan is with Tri-State Area commuters. He was even thanked by the likes of Democrat Gov. Phil Murphy of New Jersey for killing the tax. Hochul, on the other hand, does not understand anything about ordinary folks who do not want to be paying even more money to enter certain parts of the city. She’s taken a defiant tone, saying New York will not comply.

Her latest message came after the Federal Highway Administration executive director Gloria Shepherd instructed New York to “cease the collection of tolls” by March 21.

The letter was sent on Feb. 20 and made public Wednesday, just days after Gov. Kathy Hochul made a personal appeal to the president with a picture-heavy “booklet” highlighting the success of the tolling program. [...]

On X, Hochul took the position that New Yorkers were with her in the fight to keep the tax.

“The Trump Administration is once again trying to overrule New Yorkers,” she said.  “They’re about to find out what happens when you piss off 6 million New York commuters.”
