President Trump knows how unpopular Gov. Kathy Hochul’s congestion pricing plan is with Tri-State Area commuters. He was even thanked by the likes of Democrat Gov. Phil Murphy of New Jersey for killing the tax. Hochul, on the other hand, does not understand anything about ordinary folks who do not want to be paying even more money to enter certain parts of the city. She’s taken a defiant tone, saying New York will not comply.
Her latest message came after the Federal Highway Administration executive director Gloria Shepherd instructed New York to “cease the collection of tolls” by March 21.
The letter was sent on Feb. 20 and made public Wednesday, just days after Gov. Kathy Hochul made a personal appeal to the president with a picture-heavy “booklet” highlighting the success of the tolling program. [...]
MTA officials vowed to continue collecting the $9 toll in Lower Manhattan until they see a court order. (New York Post)
“The Trump Administration is once again trying to overrule New Yorkers,” she said. “They’re about to find out what happens when you piss off 6 million New York commuters.”
Ma’am, YOU pissed off 6 million New York commuters with your “congestion” fees and other anti-O&G, Green New Scam policies.

This makes no sense. @GovKathyHochul is the one taxing New Yorkers and @realDonaldTrump is the one trying to remove that tax.

You're telling me there are 6 million New Yorkers in favor of needing to pay a $9 toll to drive on their own streets? https://t.co/dioPB0QAfn
We don't want you or congestion pricing. Do I make myself clear? https://t.co/ZKd6YBkPmS

.@realDonaldTrump is not trying to overrule New Yorkers. You are! An overwhelming majority of New Yorkers do not support congestion pricing, unless you to cite that fake poll commissioned by the bike/car share lobby. On a separate note, did the Feds subpoena you yet? https://t.co/tEYa6bhQAv

Kathy Hochul does not speak for us.
We will continue to back any and all efforts to kill congestion pricing.
Sincerely,
Long Island commuters https://t.co/8EvN9JjIp9
