The Department of Government Efficiency reported Tuesday that it is already cutting about $1 billion per day, savings that have come from ending diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, eliminating unnecessary hiring, and putting an end to "improper payments to foreign organizations."

This week, DOGE shared some examples of its cost-cutting decisions. Jeff reported on the termination of three leases of nearly empty office spaces as well as the cancellation of certain DEI contracts, but on Thursday, DOGE released more updates.

Days before the inauguration, the account shared how "USAID spends $40B+ of taxpayer dollars to fund foreign aid" through millions in DEI scholarships in Burma, ESG investments in Africa, and more than a billion in "awards to undisclosed recipients."

At least one of those has now been cancelled.

Its efforts have resulted in the termination of 85 DEI-related contracts across the federal government.

DOGE said its goal is to save taxpayers more than $3 billion per day.
