Tom Homan Reveals Who Came Up With the Idea to Bus Illegal Immigrants to Sanctuary Cities

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis were instrumental in bringing the border crisis to the forefront of public debate. Once busload after busload of people started showing up in these sanctuary cities, sometimes thousands of miles from the border, the American people saw firsthand how out of control the crisis was. Abbott sent them all over the nation, and DeSantis captured headlines by flying about 50 illegal border crossers to Martha’s Vineyard. Despite signs plastered all over the island saying nobody is illegal, the ultra-wealthy unsurprisingly took a NIMBY approach to them.

During an interview with Tucker Carlson, President-elect Donald Trump’s border czar explained who originally came up with the idea to send illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities.

Carlson asked Homan if there is any way to “move millions of Haitians into rich white liberal neighborhoods,” pointing to Bethesda, Brookline, Aspen, etc., saying he would even help fund the effort.

Homan said “absolutely,” and recalled DeSantis’ Martha’s Vineyard move.

“Governor Abbott has done more to secure this border than anybody in this administration,” Homan said, “DeSantis, the same.”

Homan then asked if Carlson knew who came up with that idea.

“It was President Trump,” he said. “I remember sitting in the Oval Office once time and he said, ‘Why don’t we do that?’ So we started putting plans together, but the Remain in Mexico program was such a game changer we couldn’t fill a bus up if we wanted to, so we beat the problem before we actually got to that.”

Carlson said the efforts by Republican governors to send illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities should’ve been more focused on wealthy neighborhoods—the neighborhoods of people “who are calling you racist for wanting laws and borders. They need to feel the effects of their own destruction, so just text me and I will send you the zip codes.”
