During the Sept. 10 presidential debate, former President Donald Trump brought up the recent controversy over whether Haitians in Springfield, Ohio, are eating people’s pets.

“Look at what's happening to the towns all over the United States,” Trump said. “A lot of towns don't want to talk about it because they're so embarrassed by it. In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in. They're eating the cats. They're eating -- they're eating the pets of the people that live there. And this is what's happening in our country. And it's a shame.”

The moment turned out to be meme gold but that’s not all. It inspired a song, "Eating the Cats," by South African musician David Scott, "The Kiffness," that’s quickly gone viral and is leading to sold out shows on his European tour. Streaming proceeds from the tune are raising money for the Springfield SPCA.

Scott recently spoke about his inspiration for the song and how it's taken off.
